Cube mk2 and WIR

Is the eglu definately big enough to hold 3 chickens? I will be having the eglu in a home made run of 8ft by 8ft.

 

I don't think I can justify buying a cube for them.....or can I?

Hi, we have 3 hens in our eglu and they are fine....we do have an extra length of run though.

The Eglu itself is plenty big enough for 3 hens....especially with the 8' x 8' run.

 

I had three ex-batts in a Mark 1 Eglu and standard run for about a month before I integrated them with the flock, and they were perfectly happy.

 

Mind you compared to what they were used to it must have seemed palatial.

Once I have my big rum I'll have to fill the space with more chooks.

Sorry this made me giggle. It sounds like you have to have a large rum before you can buy your chickens

3 will be fine in an eglu. It's the run size that is important to get right.

 

I have 4 in my eglu + standard run + converter.

OK, thanks for your comments. it has put my mind at ease. 8ft square is definately the largest run I can manage at the moment so will not be increasing my number of chickens.

We have four in an eglu and they are quite happy, plenty of space even with the nest box blocked off at night (broody hen). We are waiting for delivery of a cube as we would like another couple of hens, but if we were not increasing our flock I would have the eglu in a walk in run. I am sure your three girls will be very happy in their eglu and home made run.

I have two eglus and 8 are sleeping in the green and two in the new purple eglu tonight!!! Yesterday 9 chose green!!!

 

I wouldn't worry about about three . . they'll have plenty of room.

We have 3 in our eglu, plenty of space. Don't want to put you off but we have just had some nasty bullying. This is probably more down to the lack of excitment offfered in their run than the size of the eglu, so I say go ahead!
