Patridge bantam chicken poorly foot?

I finished work today for the summer holidays!!!!

Six weeks of hen watching started tonight. I poo picked, fitted and filled the new purple super glug, changed the roosting bars to plastic . . . . then stood about watching the chooks. i was debating bringing a fold away chair in next time to sit down with a cup of tea. OH thinks I'm mad!!

I do that all the time, tis great, dd's playing in the garden me supervising and watching chooks at the same time. Life is great.

Take the chair ! I have a stone bench in the chicken yard so I can sit with them in the morning before I come to work, and a plastic step-stool so I can still sit with them under the covered part if it's raining. Good job no one can see

My brother came to visit the other day. He sat with me watching the chooks and then carried on when I came back up the garden. He couldn't believe how relaxing it was to just enjoy their company!

A chair is a wonderful idea. I sat on the ground watching mine yesterday. A chair would have been very welcome.

I often sit on a folding deck chair within the Omlet netting with the girls all around me!! I'm sure the neighbours think I am barking mad as I call the girls by their names too [They would never dare to say so thoough or I would withhold free eggs. ]

Me too - at weekends I take the chair in and just sit with them. I am thinking about extending their run so I can watch them from the comfort of my sitting room. I dont know where the time goes.

i spend far too long in the conservatory watching them, they're right outside the doors. We planned it that way so we could watch them

I take a carrier bag when I am going to sit in the netting with them...well you never know what you might sit on do you

we have chairs/benches all over the garden in different "chicken watching" spots so there is never a moment missed!

Chicken watching is great therapy especially after a hard day at work.

It is isn't it?? bit like watching a fish tank a the dentists only without the nasty bit when you are called through.

Poet how lovley to have your hens so near the house like that....LOL at your little niece wanting to get out with them.

when she comes round she rushes out and points to them. She's only 20 months old but can already say "the girls"

I sat in the garden this evening for over an hour just to watch my girls. They are sooo lovely are'nt they? I love how mine go into their house at night in the same order! Alice always goes in half an hour before the others to get her favourite place......tucked right up in the back of the nest box!

We had some friends round for dinner yesterday and it was amazing to watch them all with their glasses of wine, drawn to the girls at the bottom of the garden.

 

They couldnt believe how relaxing it was just to sit and watch the girls basking in the evening light.

So thanks girls for entertaining our guests whilst I frantically ran around the kitchen trying to get the table set!!!
