Egg announcements?

Recommended Posts

Mine only do it once in a blue moon and then only 2 of the current 5

sometimes before laying and sometimes after :?:

The first time it happened we rushed out thinking there must be some threat in the garden they others were totally un fazed and carried on pecking oblivious we had to take out a treat to quieten the offender down as she sounded as though a murder was being committed.

Other than that you wouldnt know we had them bless them :D

I've only got Esme laying at the mo. I hadnt heard her make any noise at all until one morning last week when i went down to let them out in the morning and heard the most god awful racket, and found a lovely. warm egg in the box, shes not done that since though.

Ruth1, I see you have an Esme and a Gytha, too!

Our Esme is the only one laying so far, and she does announce. In fact on Saturday she paid about 3 trips to the laying box and each time she went in there she had a good loud yell but she couldn't seem to get the egg laid. Eventually we had to pop out for 40 minutes or so, so we shut her in there for her to get some peace and quiet to lay her egg in and when we came backv there was a lovely egg waiting for us. :D

Fenny SHOUTS if she wants to be let out of the run, or if she has laid an egg. In the morning I have to get up early to let her out or she shouts the place down. Barry growls rather than shouts and is much quieter and Primrose has not learnt from the other 2 (yet). I quite like the idea of letting you know that an egg has been laid and being proud of it.
