Ain't Nobody Here

My little boy .....

Recommended Posts

..... is going off on his first Duke of Edinburgh camping expedition tomorrow :) .

His rucksack is as big as him (and about as heavy) . I'm not worried about him as he has been camping before and OH took him on a practice run a while ago but still :? .

They had to go and buy their food today - one boy insisted on buying 4 tins of condensed soup and big thick sausages  . YS and another boy made an executive decision to take packets of quick cook pasta and frankfurters instead  .

I like the tins of baked beans with sausages - and pot noodles are great! Good, quick food - very useful when camping! :D:drool:

Hope it all goes well for him. We'll talk about the "tent tax" when he gets back.:wink:

Gord.

My DS and DD have just completed their gold and silver expeditions respectively this July.

The bags never do get smaller than the kids!!!!

Luckily we have the man who runs the D of E here at home, my DH!!!

Your son will have a wail of a time.

He will be scruffy, smelly and hungry when he gets back but will have a great sense of achievement.

Good luck to him!

He's back :D . Very soggy feet and so tired he could hardly tell me a thing about it until he'd had some food and a sit on a sofa  .

Couple of things made me laugh. They were told they had to get up at 6am. None of them had a watch with an alarm so they decided to take shifts staying awake so they wouldn't sleep in  . Only one boy fell asleep on duty, waking up 15 mins before his shift ended  . I can't believe they managed to stay awake for a couple of hours, on their own in the dark in a tent  .

An assessor was following them to check on them - they had to leave markers to show they were going the right way. One of the boys left a marker but the assessor said he couldn't find it. He'd left it on a trailer which, surprise surprise, wasn't there when the assessor arrived :lol: .

Also, the frankfurters we'd bought on Sat morning weren't allowed as they "require refrigeration". 'Elf 'n' safety gone mad  .
