Louise
This is a they come in 3's story Last week I was walking down the hill at work towards the main building when a huge extremely healthy fox shot out of the trees down the slope right in front of me across the road and into the trees at the other side I know how we feel about foxes and our chooks but I was amazed as I had never seen a live one up that close before and he was huge This was 12.15 in the afternoon as well We have alot of people bringing their dogs to work so I think a dog may have flushed him out he was very handsome (sorry ) Then the next day I was putting the empty chicken feed bag in the bin I noticed something in the grass it was a little toad who was quite happy for me to pick him up and look at him I then returned him to the grass and hoped my feline monsters didn't find him I wondered what would happen next and it happened this morning There was a little stoat running along the road with a rabbit in its mouth Yes really the rabbit was at least 4 times his size and he couldn't see where he was going That one really was truly amazing and it made me thing how wonderful nature can be - when it wants to be
jackiepoppies
In my garden I have moles by the barrowload and we did have rabbits until Sophie my Weimaraner frightened them away and of course we have the chooks! But....I have seen a stoat and in the field that joins my garden and slopes down to a lake we have herons, a pair of hawks, deer, a stork and what I saw a few days ago........... A LYNX Unfortunately my camera wasn't charged up, but it is now! My OH saw it as well and as it was mid afternoon it wasn't the wine! Touch wood we have not seen any foxes.....yet Jackiex
Ain't Nobody Here
Wow, what exotic wildlife you both have . We had a heron sitting on our garage roof once - that's about it . (I think foxes are beautiful too , just wish they didn't like chickens )
Egluntyne
I doubt you will see foxes if there is a lynx about! Wow!

The Dogmother
I shall have to rush off and google search Lynx! Just so I know it if I see one! I'm not sure that you'll see one in Bradford HENthusiastic!
rachel19
Sadly we dont have lynx here anymore although they are thinking of re-introducing them which would be great I was doing an essay not that long ago about reintroductions to the Uk and people were considering both wolves and bears as well
Snowy
I shall have to rush off and google search Lynx! Just so I know it if I see one! Sadly, I don't think we have any left in this country. I saw one in a zoo recently - I was surprised just how big it was! How great to see all those within a couple of days Louise - I love it when I see evidence of wildlife about. Coming home from work the other night I saw two lots of badgers by the road - alive for a change! My brother emigrated to Canada a couple of years ago - he told me they were staying in the in-laws 'log cabin in the woods' and had a visit from a wolf Now I think that would have worried me, much as I love them! Lesley
How wonderful Louise! I've been listening to Tawny Owls the last few nights and we still watch the Barn Owls .
HENthusiastic
Ok, I've looked up Lynx on the internet. I agree, even though I do live on the outskirts of Bradford, in a more rural location.......... it does look like I still won't be seeing a lynx locally! Its a shame how much of our wildlife has declined. A man who lives locally to me has re-introduced highland cattle to my area. I live in a very high up place, so the climate is suited to them perfectly. They are fantastic beasts.
craftyhunnypie
We have a frog that comes out when it rains..I hate them, they give me the willies! We also have a resident hedgehog - quite a big one, who has set up a nest behind my greenhouse. We often see it carrying leaves in its mouth. Lovely! We get a lot of birds too as we are surrounded by trees. I love the song of the blackbird best. Oh & squirrels carry conkers along the path, up the tree, along the fence etc etc. Gorgeous! Magpies are a nuisance though & so chitty chitty. Emma.x

The Brown Clan
Have had more birds in the garden over the last couple of years ,and have now also got some Squrriels who love to run up and down my decking ( very amusing to watch) and of course foxes , then tonight whilst bringing in my washing i heard a rustle in the pots near the back of the house and saw a shape ans screamed out RAT!!!!!! ( well we are in suburban area ) Only to see a HEDGEHOG in my Garden went from being scared out of my witts to sooo excited in a matter of seconds ( also a little incase the neighbours heard me scream rat was worried for my girls though ) I can honestly say I have not seen a hedgehog in years its fab and my eldest saw it too has never seen one in real life and was very excited . The Brown Clan
I awww hedgehogs are so lovely you lucky things (and they eat slugs too so encourage them to stay!) I intend to don't worry , my garden is a haven for slugs don't know why but they love it , I'm sure the girls won't mind sharing a few with Sonic (his pet name now ) , was thinking of putting out some dog/ cat food for him but decided against it incase it makes the foxes visit more often on the off chance of free food
HENthusiastic
I saw a herd of hoodies fighting over a telly once but its not quite the same as your lovely experiences Fantastic My other favourite nature sight locally happened when I was out riding with friends a couple of months ago. We got level with a bush/tree and about literally 10 foot away from us, at eye level was a bright blue and bright yellow 2' tall parrot! I was a bit tense, wondering if the horses would freak out if he suddenly flew off, but the tension was totally broken when the parrot said "hello there"! Talk about sureal! Aparently it lives in a local house, but is frequently allowed to fly free and it just returns home when he is ready! He has featured in local newpaper articles and is called Elvis. The horses seemed to think it was all quite normal.
