A sad day for us.

Recommended Posts

Trish our ex batt died in her sleep yesterday, we found her snuggled up in the nest box.

:(:(

She had been frail for some time and we had to lift her in the cube each night and out again each morning. She wasn’t eating much, so I used to give her a bowl of dried mealworms dusted with poultry spice and she ate those with gusto.

It wasn’t really a shock that she has died, we both felt that there was no way she would survive the winter.

Although we are both very sad, (OH was in floods of tears when our first ex batt died) we both realise that we were able to give Trish the very best retirement and she enjoyed her last days sunbathing in the garden.

So out of our original 4 ex batts, we now only have one left

Irene was almost bald when we got her and we didn’t think she would make it. But now she is a different girl.

I think we will continue to give ex batts a home, as it is so rewarding to see them with the sun on their backs, and doing what comes naturally. :):)

They have such hard lives to start with, so it is a pleasure to be able to give them something back.

Regards

You did everything you were supposed to do. Trish wasnt in a tiny 'living' space, she had friends and a family. She was so loved.

Good for you :D You're a loving, kind and special person because you loved something that others wouldnt be bothered with or dont understand.

Keep going and adopt some more when you are ready.

Big cyber hugs
