Blackrocksrock
Has anyone one of these - I have made pasta dough but it was not rolled thinly enough and was too thick and not nice but fancy one of these - have it in my lakeland basket but wondered if they are any good. Trying to make more of my own things nowadays
chickencam
I have one, but it rarely gets used. We use it for making lasagna sheets sometimes, we have trouble fixing it to our work surface because we haven't really got anywhere with nothing underneath. I gather that most Italians use dried pasta and only use fresh for high days and holidays.
Mrs Frugal
I've had one for about 5 years now and love it - although I don't make pasta as often as I'd like. It works really well (especially with an enthusiastic youngster to turn the handle ) and makes lovely pasta.
Lesley
I've got one and love using it - as Kate says......helpful to have a couple of youngsters to help
Milly
We have had one for many years but hardly ever use it. However, when we do use it we always wonder why we don't use it more often as it is very simple and once made the pasta cooks very quickly. It's particularly useful for lasagne, as it cooks very quickly (so speeds up the whole assembly process). And if you make too much it freezes well. Guest
I'd really like to try one and knowing they are one of those things that many people buy and never use I'm loathe to buy one. I've asked on freecycle a couple of times and no luck. Maybe it's time to try again?? Funny I never seem to spot them at the boot sale. I only ever have fresh pasta too - from Waitrose of course to that it's free range! I wouldn't use it for lasagne though, which seems to be popular here. Can't stand the stuff! AMS
I bought my husband one of these http://www.amazon.co.uk/Imperia-Italian-Double-Cutter-Machine/dp/B0001IXA0I/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=kitchen&qid=1222720892&sr=8-1 as a wedding anniversary present - he loves it! I'm planning to buy him a couple attachments (and another pair of hands!) for Christmas Alison
Blackrocksrock
Thank you for all the imput - I have tried freecycle first to see what happens. I really want to try it first of all before buying a good one.
Omletina Kyckling
They're great. I used to make lots but now I'm on my own I dont' make so much. I used to make herb and also tomato puree flavoured pastas so you'd get the tricolor effect. The ravioli sheets are great for making filled pastas, I used to make spinach and ricotta filled pasta, and use one sheet of the tomato pasta and fill the holes, then a sheet of the herb pasta on top, so you got multicoloured ravioli. Great for lasagne sheets too as everybody else has said....
Guest
I inherited mind from my Italian Mother-in-Law and have often used it with children. Its really easy and quick to make your own pasta and kids love to make it and eat it
