Mrs Frugal
I'll need to buy a microwave first . Our last one died 10 years ago and we've never replaced it . I'll be over to see you if you cook a mug cake though .
Cooks
I might have to give in and try this myself.. I think the boys would love the cake coming out of the mug like that, it's very cool!
Maccbean
Oh my god, I dreamt my husband was making this in the bedroom last night I wonder how you would interpret that
A chickychickychick-ENN!!
I made three yesterday. One for lunch and two for dinner - to share. In massive latte mugs so I could pour cream over the top. And the recipe, unusually, is stuck in my head. God, it's good. Anna x

Egluntyne
Googled it an found **this**. A step by step with pics. Am giving it a go right now. Am in the mood for choc cake, what with the weather and everything.

Am in the mood for choc cake, what with the weather and everything. Now I was threatened with being banned merely for giving you all this recipe....Egluntine has published a website with gratuitous photographs of chocolate cake both in the making and then lying temptingly on a plate.....surely she should be excommunicated for this!! Christian, where are you?!
Egluntyne
It was a disaster.....it looked wonderful and then collapsed. That is my punishment. I realise wih hindsight that my microwave is only 750 watts. 'Appen that's the problem. I shall try again.
Omletina Kyckling
My microwave is 800W and I cooked it for 3.30. I also ignored the instructions and mixed it in a bowl with beaters rather than in the mug? That might help? I'm looking forward to making one this afternoon once the fire is lit and snuggling down with it!!
Cooks
it's leading us all astray that's what it is.. .. I did not at all get the ingredients together just now and promise son we could make them in a minute.. nope that wasn't me at all.
Egluntyne
I've just done it again. Purely in the interests of science, you understand. I googled cake flour and discovered that the nearest equivalent is 3 parts plain flour and 1 part cornflour, so I used this. I also did it for 3 mins 30 secs and it was very good. I couldn't manage it all in one go.

Egluntyne
Already got that one. Fotunately Him Indoors is a diabetic, otherwise I would make it every week.

Blackrocksrock
I have another quick recipe I sometimes make in the microwave for a syrup sponge pudding....perhaps best I don't post that, eh?! Go on I would like that one - my chocolate mug cake came over the top and down the side of the mug and on the turntable but was still very good. Guest
What a commotion this recipe has caused - it has kept us ALL amused for an ENTIRE weekend. I sent it to a choc loving friend of my daughter's (a YOUNG PERSON) who is at university so thought I had better try it out myself to make sure it worked.... I used SR flour and cooked it for 3 mins 30 in an 850W microwave. It was lovely and would go down a treat with some choc custard - now I hae a tin of that in the back of the cupboard somewhere...... Joojoo
Thanks very much will definitely be trying it out tomorrow night. Not expecting a good day at work so a 5 minute chocolate cake fix will definitely be necessary. We would have tried it this afternoon, but I had only got SR flour in and thought it had to be plain have since read that SR is fine, but too late to try it now
Cooks
I have one of those tall coffee mugs that holds probably a mug and half? and the cake came right out the top, we was watching through the microwave window, it was good fun, and tasted delicious, I think it would be great with a dollop or two of cornish icecream.. yum!!!
