Jools
I'm afraid the affliction is terminal. There is no known cure.
Chook n Boo Mum
It's very infectious this condition! I go shooting on a Tuesday eve & between details I sit & discuss chooks, jams, animal thoughts & dreams of small holding where we could keep pigs etc with one of the men there. The others (including my DH!) think we are nuts!! Very often I have mags & share them with him, discussing the merits of each one over another I'm quite taken with HomeFarmer at the mo, have you seen it yet? Think a subscription may be on my Christmas list! Must just go & follow your link..... Sha x

Egluntyne
We saw alpacas at the Yorkshire get together a week or so ago. I nearly swallowed my scarf when I enquired about how much they cost. £3,000 - £5,500. Each. Electric fencing has to be cheaper!
Chook n Boo Mum
Would love to have alpacas - in my dreamworld! Apparently they are smelly creatures, though I haven't been up close & personal with any except the pristine show variety who don't appear to smell at all! That cost rather puts the kibosh on any plans I may like to have though. We live in a house which , although the National Trust don't own it, there is a covenant on it, whereby we are not allowed to keep livestock. Just about get away with chooks, but alpacas might just count against us! Sha x

A chickychickychick-ENN!!
Smallholders magazines are lethal. I now want bantams, a goat, alpacas, bees, an orchard and more veg patch. I'm so suggestable. Isn't it brilliant?! The bantams and veg WILL happen next year, and the lady across the road is a secret beekeeper so I can help her a bit next year. Goats and alpacas and orchards will have to wait a few years. But then I can spin wool and make cider and make cheese! Anna x
