millymollymandy
Hi do any of you have a memory foam mattress and are they any good? I am looking to get a new bed for when I eventually move into my new house and OH is trying to convince me to get a memory foam mattress. I have heard they can make you quite hot as there isn't much airflow unless you get them with springs also. It all sounds complicated any ideas? I've never been too hot, and it's great for my dodgy back!!! They can be expensive but well worth it. My friend got hers new from ebay!!! I also have a MF pillow not the contoured type Also brill! Lesley
There have been a couple of threads about MF - might be worth searching for them. We bought ours from John Lewis - wouldn't be without it
MedusA
I have a MF pillow and it took me a while to get used to it, but now I love it. It certainly doesn't make me hot, so I should expect a mattress would be the same. Go for it and let us know how you get on!
A chickychickychick-ENN!!
In terms of getting used to MF mattresses, how different do they feel? Our mattress is like a rock and I've finally convinced the OH we need a new one - he had back surgery in the summer, and that's helped sway him. But beds are such a big investment and without a proper trial night on one, it's hard to tell what's what. Is anyone feeling flowery in term of having a go at getting all poetic about one for us? Seagazer
I'm sure I saw an advert somewhere that you could try one for 14 nights and if you weren't satisfied they would take it back. Trouble is I can't remember where I saw it.
Chickvic
Try www.memory-mattress.co.uk we ordered our mattress from there and I'm sure we had 14 days trial. Didn't send it back - it's fab!!
chooklady
We've got one aswell, very comfortable. Tempur are the best, I know we did lots of research at the time, we've had ours about 2.5 years now. They don't make you hot. You also don't really feel your OH moving around because they are made so differently to normal mattresses. I hadn't been sleeping well recently and I was sure it was my pillow that was causing the problem so I changed to one of the contoured MF ones and it has worked a treat, I've been sleeping like a baby. dancing cloud
Mine's a tempur mattress and it's wonderful The best thing about coming home after a holiday ... They are now sold in many of the bigger bed shops, so I'd recommend going and having a lie on one before investing as they are expensive. Excellent for bad backs and the cats like it too
Seagazer
Its really good to know that they do not make you hot as I had read that they do and as I could be coming up to 'that age in the next couple of years and therefore having my own central heating, it means I could get one. We are due to get another mattress soon as I find ours very uncomfortable.
Lesley
I have my own central heating at the moment and don't have problems with feeling any warmer with the mattress topper and it certainly helps with painful joints.
