redhotchick
I received this from a friend today. I'm not sure if this is an old warning doing the rounds, but thought I would pass it on anyway. > Please Be Extremely Careful > especially if using internet mail such as Yahoo> , Hotmail> , AOL and so on. > > This information arrived this morning direct from both Microsoft and Norton. > > Please send it to everybody you know who has access to the Internet. > > You may receive an apparently harmless email with a Power Point presentation > 'Life is beautiful' > > If you receive it DO NOT OPEN THE FILE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES , and delete it immediately . > > If you open this file, a message will appear on your screen saying: 'It is too late now, your life is no longer beautiful.' > > Subsequently you will LOSE EVERYTHING IN YOUR PC and the person who sent it to you will gain access to your name, e-mail and password. > > This is a new virus which started to circulate on Saturday afternoon. > > AOL has already confirmed the severity, and the antivirus software's are not capable of destroying it. > > The virus has been created by a hacker who calls himself 'life owner.' > > > PLEASE SEND A COPY OF THIS EMAIL TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS and ask them to PASS IT ON IMMEDIATELY
cordelia
thanks for the warning if its real....but it sounds like a darned chain letter... we ususally get urgent microsoft virus updates..and missives on real virus threats, and we havnet had an internal one for this..(workwise I mean) on a similar note..I got a text saying I'd missed a large parcel delivery...all rubbish of course, and intended to get me to make a hugely expensive phone call..... so please be aware that this is on the rounds too.....this week

The Dogmother
If you check Snopes, you'll see that this one is a hoax http://www.snopes.com/computer/virus/life.asp
Jillus
That was a good idea posting that Snopes website, I always go onto it now whenever I get anything that sounds a bit odd, it is amazing what people send on with the best intentions. I hate those awful emails that tell you if you don't send it on you will have 7 years of bad luck etc etc.
jlo
I just received another one from a friend of mine about a 2Burundunga" impregnated business card. That seems to be a hoax too. I really don't understand the thrill in starting these sorts of scare mongering things!
redhotchick
Yes a hoax. I'd never heard of Snopes before today. Good to know. I'll ask a moderator to lock this topic up.
