securing the run to the ground

Recommended Posts

Still pondering a walk in run. Current concern is fixing the run to the ground/paving slabs. The site we we have identified is relativly sheltered, bearing in mind we live on the side of a hill, north cornwall coast, luckily facing away from the sea. If we have a solid base and roof as discussed on this forum, has anyone had problems with the wind picking up the run??

Its blowing a hooly here today, but no frost rain or snow ....yet :D

My run is secured to the ground.

The run itself is stood on a bedded-in skirt of paving slabs, & attached to them by "L" shaped brackets which are screwed into both the run sides & the paving slabs ( some serious drilling was done by my friend to fix the run down!)

As it's got such a big perspex roof it might not literally take off, but it would certainly shift in the wind.

Ours isn't secured to the ground but we do have an anti 'wind take off' roof!! The panels do not go all the way to the apex they stop about 50 - 60 mm away, then we have a length of upturned industrial guttering over the top and raised so that any excess wind can escape - it also means excess heat in the summer can escape too. It works on the same theory as the anti blow inside out umbrellas. I'll try and take an up close and personal picture of it tomorrow and post it I don't think you can see it on the main pics of Peckingham Palace.
