An awful morning - an awful mother

Recommended Posts

Any better this morning, blue?

Amazingly we were ready 10 minutes early! It was a very nice, calm, quiet morning. I have banned tv during breakfast but they can listen to the Big Toe Radio show, which they quite like with the stories. YD quite surprised me by getting herself completely ready, even doing her hair and had her shoes on without one prompt from me. The only one who needed a little prod was DS but that was just to do his teeth. Apart from that, all was well!

I was listening to the radio yesterday and a lot of people were saying they were having a bad day so maybe there was something in the air!

I feel much calmer today and am going to actually start getting the Xmas pressies, but nothing for the stockings because Father Christmas gets those

well done bluekarin  It's a hard job. I'm finding it hard to sort the chickens, make packed lunches for 3 and get out of the house at 8.15 for the school run while my husband's away for a month filming. On the days that i have to go to work aftre the school run it's harder because I can't go to school in pajamas and wellies ;)

I think I would get some looks if I did the school walk in my pjs and wellbobs! I take it you drive? Unless you are very brave. I did however bump into my neighbour whilst wearing a most glamorous outfit of green towelling dressing gown (was my late grandmothers and is warm and usually only graces the back garden whilst getting the chicken's up) slip on dms with socks whilst disposing of a half eaten mouse in the bins before they were due to be collected! Lovely

Sounds good. Breakfast TV had to be banned at Egluntine Towers as it caused untold arguments because they wouldn't get a move on.

The radio idea sounds great....they can get cracking whilst still listening.

Am pleased that you are feeling happier.

The first 21 years are the worst.

Ha ha :) yeah - my dressing gown is kept for best - i wore my husband's down the garden today to sort the chooks and decided that raven needed Ukadex as her large scab has healed and fallen off - exposing pink skin ready to bite. His dressing gown is now in the wash ;) STINKY!!!!!

yeah - I have to go by car. (lived walking distance but moved away - older 2 get bus but youngest still finishing junior school) If I'm in pajamas I sit in car and run out at last minute. rare occasion and only to be attempted in certain pajamas

I tried the banning tv in the morning and just having the radio on but for some reason best known to LMW she just loves Alice Cooper (the morning DJ on Planet Rock) and ends up singing along to the radio.............I can't win! The OH says he never has any problems with her, funny that he listens to Radio 4 or 5 .............

still haven't worked out the technology of quoting :)

Press the quote button on the page you want to quote and it come up in a new reply thingy, as above. :D

If you want to quote just a part of the text, you can delete the bits you don't want.

To do a bog standard quote just type the text in in and the highlight and press the quote button at the top of the page.. and it does it for you. :D

I tried to pm this to you so as not to hijack this thread (apologies to bluekarin) but you don't seem to be set up to accept pm's.

We all get mornings like that sometimes

I woke up my DS at 7am and he was still in bed at 7.25, his breakfast was ready, but he had to pack swimming kit etc and be out of the door by 7.40. Somehow he ate his breakfast and packed everything and went out on time

Then it was my morning for helping with yr5 swimming at YD's school which involves 2 hours of trying to get them to get changed in and out of swimming stuff quickly, loads more shouting

you're not alone

((((hugs))))

I LOVE THIS!!!!

It is so true, and always has me reduced to an aching faced heap with tears streaming down my face!

I was told when DS & DD were tiny that "things don't get better, they just change!". Never was a truer word spoken!

Glad to hear that peace has broken out in your house, I often find that a paddy from me followed by a rational exchange has more effect than simply the rational exchange!

My children reduce me to a shrieking harpy at least once a week. It's their job. :)

A bit like my raging banshee then....

I only have a toddler but sometimes the frustration of a hubby; two dogs; a huge tummy and a small smiley person is enough to make me feel clinically insane....

Give your self a break! Mothers have the hardest job in the world and we don't even get paid for it!!! Well in cuddles we do.....

Hope you feel better! But for sure you are NOT alone :)

And I thought it was just my house that descended into WW3 every morning!!!

Every day Son tells me he will miss the bus if I make him clean his teeth, and every day I shout at him to go do it anyway instead of arguing with me!!

And every day we have the same discussion about packing his school bag up the night before, and leaving his bus pass and keys in his blazer pocket so he knows where they are, and to take a separate bag for his trainers or he will destroy the zip on his rucksack, and unlace his shoes in the evening when he takes them off (now solved - he has slip-ons!!), and hang up blazer so it doesn't resemble a dish rag! I could go on but I'm sure you all have similar conversations!

Why do we do it, why didn't we just stay single and carefree?

My house too!

I am the worst mother in the world.

It's official - ES told me so it must be true.:roll:

Mainly when I am hassling him to clean his teeth, have a shower (why do we have to have an argument about that? - he loves showers but doesn't want to stop what he's doing to go and have one!), put his dirty underwear in the wash, get stuff ready before we are already halfway out the door.

When I am not 'nagging', I am apparently the best mother in the world. :? !

The first 21 years are the worst.

most definately :D my oldest is 22 next week and as shes still at home she is only just becoming civilised most of the time, i think if she had moved out she would be more mature  but i still have 17 and 19 yr olds and though i don't need to nag in the morning (their fault if their late for college/work) they will leave things around the house constantly like bags and shoes at the door

Just to really cheer you all up it took me until I was 23 to snap out of my stroppy kevin the teenager phase with my parents :lol: .

I got on a bit better with them at 26 when I got married. I finally appologised to them for being such a madam when I was 30  .

So all good news you see, it only takes 30 years, and the reason I haven't had any kids myself is that I couldn't cope with raising a mini me :lol: .
