buffie
Well Katie our lovely boxer died one year ago on saturday and I got so much support here (sad day was the topic and I remember it well) Anyway Mikey and I had a little chat about adopting a kitten, I was thinking in memory of Katie. I didn't get a no but an 'ok' I'm afraid once I get the go ahead (and even if I don't ) I leap into action. So first thing on saturday I phoned lots of charities and eventually contacted RSPCA volunteers. They were lovely and basically said come and choose. Now we wanted one (ok I wanted 2 ) so arrived to see 7 kittens. I wanted a boy BUT a most adorable black female sat on Mikey's knee and I just knew it was 2 I said I'd love Ollie, silver tabby (yes he's called Ollie Kate ) and Tinkerbell, pure black (they had named her so she is keeping it ) and I nearly fell over when Mikey said 'lets have them both she's a sweetheart! So on a sad day we now have a happy memory of tinkerbell (Tinker or Belle alot of the time ) and Ollie. They are in a barjo kennel in the lounge to get used to thier surroundings, as Ollie is a little fearful. In fact he had managed to get behind our gas wood burner yesterday and Mikey took it all apart to get him out of the wall Tinkerbell is happy as larry and just wants cuddles so I will be busy getting them integrated. Henry and Maisie think Daisie thinks Oh here comes fun BBx
Cate in NZ
They sound adorable Buffie, and such a lovely addition to the family. It sounds like you're going to have a bit of mischief to contend with, fancy Ollie getting behind the wood-burner..... he could be an adventurous one once he builds up his confidence. Great fun And what a lovely tribute to Katie, on what could otherwise have been a bit of a sad weekend. Do please post photos when you get a minute
Eyren
How lovely! Our kittens are six months old and a bit of a handful I decided I wanted Burmese kittens this time - most of my cats have been rehomes (and mostly young adults) of some kind, and it's not often I have enough money in the bank to shell out for pedigree kittens, so I knew it was probably a once-in-lifetime opportunity. I'm very glad we got two - Maddie is a bit clingy and Bertie is easily bored, so they would have been miserable as lone cats Hope your little ones settle in soon, and look forward to pics! buffie
Going to try to get photo's up soon. We like to keep a book with their pics as they grow. Daisie needs some adding too. It's a good job we didn't want to have children, can you imagine BBx
Cinnamon
Buffie, would you like some kitten food? My fussy little monster will only eat dry stuff,so I have a load of wet food packets if you would like them. PM me your address...... Great news and yes I jealous, nearly came home from shopping on Friday with a ginger tabby kitten, LSH wouldn't have coped with it at the mo though so he stayed in the pet shop

The Dogmother
Sarah, I might be interested in your unwanted kitten food - that's if Andrew gets back to me about his friends' kittens. PM me if its' still available.
chocchick
Lovely, looking forward to pictures when back from holiday. ClareT you know you want a ginger kitten I'm at a worrying stage where OH is not around to curb my dreaming of more chickens
The Dogmother
I am more or less convinced anyway Chocs, but thanks. I am trying not ot get too hopeful in case Andrew's friends have already got homes for their kittens. If I were your OH Choccy, I would be worried, very worried! The problem with hens is that it's not like you can say, 'look what I found abandoned by the road in a cardboard box Dear' with that innocent look on your face. I think that men see more pets as the thin end of the wedge in them getting moved further down the pecking order at home Can't imagine why they think that! My difficulty is that it is my house, so it is up to me (which probably isn't a good idea), besides Phil is just as silly about animals as I am
buffie
I've moved them to our room..Ollie did this whole flirty thing and I love you mummy but has now hidden under a bedside table. Tinkerbell is sort of saying 'what's up with him I want cuddles'. I can now clean out th crate and do intro's to my mum and dad later when they come for the night. I will move them back to the crate later. They love the raw food and I can use the homoeopathic nosode vaccination and see if I can have cats without the gingivitis virus that affects so many. I must get on though BBx

Cinnamon
Isn't it great when your dog & cat get on well? When we got Chilli a couple of months ago, he was so nervy & skittish that we thought he would never settle, let alone bond with Millie our Staffie. Now,if I need to know where he is,I look for Millie & he is never far away. They sleep together, play a lot & look out for each other all the time When we go away next week we are more concerned about them missing each other than missing us By the way, anyone with a kitten can regsiter here http://www.whiskas.co.uk/whiskas/en-gb/kittenpack/kittenpackform.asp Or here http://www.catslikefelix.co.uk/index.asp?pageid=6 for some free kitten food sample packs. buffie
Oh Sarah I am looking forward to Ollie being less scared . I know it will be ok and I am pleased we have him as he's the kind of puss that doesn't appeal to some, as it takes a bit more work. I never seem to look for an easy option. I can see my parents now Takes all sorts, BBx
