HENthusiastic
Well, its -5 up here! I've broken ice on the girls water three times today, theres no scratching to be done because the ground is frozen solid....... I've not been able to poo pick very well because some of the poos are frozen like cement to the ground..... and guess what???? May's decided to go into a fairly serious looking moult ! I've asked her to wait until it warms up just a little bit, but she's not listening Daft chicken!
Plum
Silly May. Good thing you have a few chickens she can cuddle up to.
ubereglu
Silly thing. Muddles did the same thing when we had that cold spell in October. Most of mine have moulted fully now, apart from Starlet who's a bit patchy!
sandyhas3chucks
what IS it with these birds? It doesn't seem to make any sense at all! or IS there some logical reason?
HENthusiastic
I wondered whether its because naturally they will spend the spring laying and hatching eggs, and so need all their feathers to keep their littluns warm. Then in the winter they stop laying and can think about their clothing? Its only a guess. Id be interested if anybody knows?
