BeckyBoo
Well, so far so good (I know, it's only the first day! ) Basically I started everything much earlier, I'd already spoken to ED and we'd agreed that she could watch TV until 7.45ish, then read for half an hour, then if she went to bed nicely at 8.30 without a fuss she could have her DS in the morning, if she created a fuss or was up and down all evening long then she wouldn't get it until tomorrow evening and if she made a fuss then then she would lose it until the next day etc etc. BUT. I also started the bedtime "new routine" straight after tea. Instead of letting them play whilst I tidy, both girls came home with homework so they did that whilst I washed up. Straight into jamas, up for a bit of TV milk and a biscuit, then reading with MD then lights out (that was at 8pm) then straight into reading with ED, lights out at 8.30. She was still awake when I carried boy up to bed (haven't got the hang of his bit in all of this yet - he fell asleep on the sofa!) but she stayed there so fingers crossed. Thanks for ALL your advice, I can't remember who said that I should remember that we don't all need the same amount of sleep, but I do best on about 6 hours, less than 4 I can't manage but more than 8 or so and I get grumpy (everything makes me grumpy ) so why should I assume that all children need 12 hours? Mrs B - sitting with a glass of wine, watching rubbish on TV, spending too much time on here when I want to finish painting the red wall, BUT child free

Chook n Boo Mum
Congratulations! Great journeys start with just one step...or something like that ! Once you have the girls sorted into their routine, the little man will slot in nicely I'm sure. Good luck for tomorrow. As for being on here when you should be doing something else, I should be watching Mamma Mia, but one of DH's camera chums has phoned up.....why at 9.45 for heaven's sake, every time he does this! I should have left the phone for the answerphone to pick up Sha xx
