PVC Corrugated Sheet question

Recommended Posts

I have wondered the same thing. Personally I am going to wire the roof too, I have a big roll of weldmesh and will have some spare so may as well use it to keep myself from worrying, I will then put roofing over that.

Plenty of people on here have not meshed the roof and I notice that most of them have lots of cross beams in the roof to screw the sheeting down to and thats what I would do if I wasn't using mesh as lengths of the sheeting are very flexible so long lengths could be lost to a gale. Lots of cross beams means the sheeting fits very closely and tightly to the run reducing the chances of Mr Fox getting in!

Also some of the sheeting can become brittle if you screw it very close to the edge and could be easier for a determined fox to get under

If you are using sheeting only; I would do as most of the other members have done and have plenty of wood to screw them on to - use washers if you can to spread the pressure at any screw points and don't screw too close to the edge. If you have big spans and no cross beams use the thickest sheeting you can to reduce the flexibility

This is only my advice from looking at other runs and planning my own so I am not talking from real experience mind!

Have fun :D

I have weldmesh on the roof of mine too, with the plastic sheeting on top. Redwing gives some good advice about fixing it as it needs a bit of support. Mine sagged and leaked at first until we sloped it more and put some additional cross-beams in. :D

Better to have peace of mind :D

I have to admit we didn't put mesh underneath but the roof is supported and screwed to battens so I think it would be very difficult for anything to get in there as it took us a while to put together the roofing sections. We also used the special wavy (eaves fillers) supports at each end of the roofing panels too. No problems with Mr/Mrs Foxy so far  .
