Which one shall I get? HELP?

Recommended Posts

I am thinking about purchasing a fox deterrent but I don't know which 1 to get...

Foxwatch

Any comments on the foxwatch?? good or bad

Info about it & cheap supplier...

Motion sensor detects movement in the protected area. The unit triggers a 10 second ultrasonic burst, which will repeat until the fox leaves the protected area. A red light behind the lens indicates that the Foxwatch unit has been triggered.

Unlike many pest deterrents that operate continuously Foxwatch waits for the animal to enter the protected area. Internal sensor detects the crossing of a warm body in the field view. Powerful ultrasonic sound burst startles the animal. The fox learns that he or she is causing the unpleasant occurrence to happen every time the fox goes into the protected area and therefore stays away. The fox will avoid the protected area.

Detection area;

Repelled by ultrasound alarm up to a distance of 60ft away. Range angle of 100º it will detect any movement and body heat within a radius fo 40ft. One unit helps to protect up to 1350sq.ft. (125sq.m)

I have one and it's absolutely brilliant. Can't recommend it enough. We had a big problem with foxes trying to get into the run at night, but since installing a Foxwatch about a year ago, there has been no sign of them. We can hear the foxes all round at night, but they no longer come into the garden. A bit of advice though - if you get one, get the mains adaptor, as the batteries run out very quickly, especially if it is on all the time. Good luck!

I have had a Foxwatch for about a year and until a week or so ago I would have highly recommended it. We have had a large fox in our garden in broad daylight eyeing up my chickens, Foxwatch was on, it runs off the mains. So I think it may deter them but if they are hungry enough they will put up with the noise to try for a tasty meal. Please do not let owning a Foxwatch make you complacent.

the following was posted on another thread so I am confused about the one that does all 3 cat dog fox :|

Apparently, http://www.lsu.edu/deafness/HearingRange.html

the hearing range of dogs is 67-45,000 Hz and cats 45-64,000 Hz.

and chickens... I hear you ask ...........................125-2,000 Hz

but I'm confused by these numbers.

So, I emailed concept, the makers of foxwatch who replied (very promptly)

"FOXWatch works on the frequency of 40-45 khz and the CA"Ooops, word censored!"ch works on the frequency of 21-24khz.

The FOXWatch will deter Foxes and Dogs. (CA"Ooops, word censored!"ch will only deter Cats.)"

Hi,

I've been looking for an answer to this post.We had the fox visit 2 nights ago and think a sonic repeller might help.It can't get in the eglu, so far, but has been sitting on and scratching at the roof and keeping us and the girls awake!

Did you get a fox watch in the end? Does anyone have the dog/cat/fox one? can you hear it and does it upset the chickens?I was hoping to get the cat/dog/fox one as you can get them from B and Q.Please help!!

My other idea is to put the eglu in the walk-in run, as I have just built one!!but would like something to help.

Hope someone can answer this.

Thanks

Go for the Foxwatch!!!!

I had the dog and cat one, it was useless, the fox kept peeing up it :vom: It stunk! Yes I could hear it, it drove me mad especially when the batteries were on the way out which was pretty much every 2 weeks  It died after about 4 months, then I bought the Foxwatch which has been great. We're still on the first battery since January although I have to turn it off during the day because the girls set it off and the dogs can hear it, the fox hasn't peed up it and I can't hear it

I did also have 4 of the smaller dog and cat ones (yes, I'm paranoid) only one of them is still working.

Go for the Foxwatch!!! I got mine here http://www.primrose-london.co.uk/foxwatch-p-1722.html very good service and a good price.
