Egluntyne
there will be those who'll think it's funny There might also be those who might think it a wheeze to try it out. We won't be leaping to his defense for resurrecting the recipe then.

Yes Poet, but the people on the forum are unlikely to follow the recipe.
Cinnamon
I didn't see the show but will watch it tomorrow night. However judging from what I have seen here is it not possible that he was trying to emphasise the differences in cookery & cruelty to animals between then & now? Maybe in a roundabout way it shows how we have grown as a community of animal lovers who like to treat the animals who becomon our food with respect? Christian
I would love to Poet, but doing a google search, it revealed 53,800 results for Heston Blumenthal. I don't think that out little 'chat' will have million of live chickens being eaten at the dinner table. Thank goodness.

jlo
No accounting for the sanity of some Mail on Sunday Readers I have to say that I am with Poet on this one. If anyone actually sees this as advocating that sort of treatment then they are probably mentally disturbed in any event and would only think of some equally vile thing of their own accord! Cinnamon
No accounting for the sanity of some Mail on Sunday Readers Just so long as you know that we are not all mentally unstable Some of us may even pass as 'normal' on a good day! jlo
That's why I did say "some!" readers. I have been known to partake on the odd occasion myself. Not that I am suggesting that I am fully sane!

Guest
I hate it because some people might think it's OK or funny to treat animals like that. Exactly!
Rhapsody
How can you possibly get annoyed with him when he says this- The most outrageous recipe I found was from an antique French cook book – although I’d be amazed if anyone actually made it at the beginning ..? I think all this fire and damnation would be better brought upon Foie Gras, not an 18thCentury dish that may have never been served!
Egluntyne
Here's another one courting controversy. **Here** Rather at variance with his green credentials. No-one in the UK actually needs to eat this kind of thing. No-one needs to eat Foie Gras either though when you come to think of it.
