My heart is still pounding!

 

The girls were free ranging in their bit of the garden, less than 20 feet from the back door. I was in the kitchen cooking a quiche and I heard them all shouting. To my horror, there was a fox in with them. I rushed out making hissing noises (don't ask why! It's the first sound that came out of my mouth!). Very very luckily, the fox fled without so much as a feather.

Needless to say, the girls are back in their run, with a lettuce to console them. Sadly there will be no more free ranging unless a human being is in the garden.

 

What a shame, just as the days are starting to get a tiny bit longer. But what a lucky escape!

Thank goodness they were okay... I shall remember the hissing technique if I ever need to scare off a fox!

OMG lucky escape indeed.... Henrietta says "pfft a mere lettuce would not console us, we'd need a full lunch of spinach, corn, porridge, scrambled eggs, and grapes" lol cheeky girls mine are!!

What a fright you must have got . Thank goodness you were on hand to scare it away . If you saw a snake in your garden, do you think you'd hiss at it too ?

I like snakes! If one ventured into the garden, the girls would probably eat it.

Oh how scary for you. Glad all the girls are safe, it could have been so much worse. Exactly the same happened to us back in September and only today I saw a fox in next door's garden at 9am.
