Mrs Webmuppet
I can recommend a trip to Covent Garden.............admittedly it's home to two of my fav shops ( Lush and Be Never Too Busy) and one of LMW fav shops ( Build a Bear) . We've been a few times to go to the ballet at the Royal Opera House (a spectacular building in itself).

Guest
Is it now??? Maybe we'll have to have a look at that.... I was sure it was, we went on one of those open top coach tours of London a few years ago and I could have sworn it was but when I google, it isn't It's not far away though. I'm going for a lie down however...this place does say it's near the dungeons and it looks a little gem! http://www.georgetownrestaurants.co.uk/london/index.htm

When I was young we used to do a regular Barking Pub Crawl - pop into the Spotted Dog and have a pint of Wallop and a Large Vintage Character for me! Oh happy days! Aunty e
If you go to Hackney City farm, wave at my cockerel! And stop by to say hi to me If you were going to be here on a sunday, I would say Columbia Road Flower market is lovely (and by the farm), but I'm a bit late I'm afraid. You should deffo take a leisurely stroll down the south bank of the river by the national theatres etc, and I can heartily recommend a trip to the globe if it's open for tours. Borough market is fabby for food, and of course portobello road is also fun. The stables markets are brilliant in Camden, I used to practically live there (well actually, I did live there but not in the market, just outside) when I was a student. Of course it's half term, so crazy busy, otherwise I'd suggest a trip to the Houses of parliament. Also jolly good fun, even if you're there for work. I'm so not cool when I have to go, there is gawping a plenty.
Yorkshire Pudding
A trip on the river is worth doing. Gives a whole new perspective to the city. Try the amphibus . A bright yellow amphibious vehicle, does a street tour first then drives into the river and returns on the water. Our trip is booked for this summer with my sister and her OH and my niece. It's been on our 'to do' list for yonks and we're finally getting round to it! If you google it you can book online. I took the DSs to the Natural History museum last summer, be prepared for queues but the exhibits are just as fab as they were when I used to drag my parents around it every Sunday (in the 1970s, when it was empty every Sunday - sadly now quite the opposite). We spent an entire day there, you can't really do it justice if you are pushed for time. Get there early if you don't want to wait 90 minutes to even get into the dinosaur exhibition . Nutmeg
Another late tip, but could be useful for others. Along from Harrods is the most fantastic Patisserie, a little gem of an eating place for breakfast, lunches and afternoon teas! The cakes and gateaux are works of art in themselves and the staff are so friendly. I think it is called Valerie. Well worth a visit, even if just to gaze at the window display
