bekibutton
Having looked at lots of pics on here of people's lovely walk-in runs I'm thinking of getting one myself. I'm interested to know if you're all dab hands at a bit of DIY or whether you got professionals in? I don't think I'd be able to build one and I wouldn't trust my dad either - the bits of our house that are wonky are where he got involved Thanks! Egluntyne
Mine is a flytesofancy one. It came in panels and a DIY savvy friend put it together for me. I am pleased with it.
Rona
I build mine myself and once it was finished I was pleased with it, but while I was doing it, I wished I had got someone else in to do it as it wasn't easy and seemed to take forever, but maybe that was just me. Others have also self built but I have seen someone on here who got theirs built professionally but I can't remember who, but I'm sure they or someone else will come along and tell you who did it. I does make life easier unless you are very flexible - or short . Good luck
Ain't Nobody Here
Becki, you need to get right on over to this thread . I'm getting two quotes, one from Aviaries4U and one from a local joiner .

chelsea
my very talented husband built mine!. ditto! Same here! We bought our panels premade. OH just did a brick surround and put the panels on top. He's always fiddling with and adapting the run most weekends .
AJuff
Anyone got their run built on or into a slope? Just thinking about relocation, relocation, relocation!!!
Ain't Nobody Here
I think there was one on the Run Inspiration thread ? I'll see if I can find it . Edit: found it . It's Daisy999's run, quite far down the page with a purple cube and a run painted this colour . It's not all on a slope though, just part of it . DOn't know if that helps! ruth1
Forget the walk in run . Where do I get a very talented husband ? Yeah where do you find them ? Mine is more DIY Disaster than talented We got a joiner to build us the frame and roof and erect it ( as my DIY wasnt up to that) and then we painted , wired and felted the roof . I did however dig out the space and lay the slabs all by myself with OH watching
Ain't Nobody Here
My husband's input has been to look out of the window each day and go at the piles of slabs/cut down branches/moved eglu and run/ruined grass. Ho hum, at least he's not stopping me .
atsw
I've just started work on my new Walk-in-Run. As you can see, the girls are already taking a keen interest! By 5:00pm tonight I'd got 3 out of the 12 rows of slabs down. Got the week off work from Monday (half term, kids will be 'helping'), so should have the base complete by the end of the week. The new run (from Aviaries4U) arrives early March. I keep telling OH that it's a birthday present to myself, but really it's just an excuse to get more chooks. . AJuff
Err I was thinking about a rather steeper slope than that! I may have to consider terracing!!!!!! Will post some pic soon when I get back from a trip down south.
bekibutton
Well, I might have to borrow someone's useful OH at some point then! As I said I don't trust my dad to do it and I don't have an OH (nor likely to get one any time soon - I'm not dating for the whole of 2009!). We'll make do with keeping the chooks in the and runs to start off with, but I'd like them to have a larger area to run around in as the previous chooks had half the garden to themselves
