ruth1
well a little splash Orp chick hatched out last night. so cute grey and white and fluffy So I was very excited at work today and couldnt wait to come home to see it , Im amazed anything hatched as I had written of the eggs after having a four hour powercut the other weekend and a six hour one last week. Anyway I was picking the shell out of the incubator after transferring the little one and picked up another egg and it cheeped and moved - I nearly dropped it out of fright so Im hoping there is another one going to come out ok These will be my chicks of fate if they hatch out. Griffin
I was like that, I picked up the last egg and thought I'd quickly candle it to confirm it was dead before binning it, picked it up and it started cheeping at me I quickly shoved it back and put the lid on the incubator and she hatched the next morning! Good luck!

ruth1
My god you'll never believe it , I was up at 3am this morning looking at the egg waiting and nothing doing. Cheepy egg hatched about 7.30 this morning I've been desperate to get home from work all day, came home looked in the Inky and there were THREE fluffy bodies starting back at me So four out of six hatched , ive left the other two eggs in , just incase, Im obviously rubbish at candling and the powercuts just delayed things The thing is im expecting a few more eggs in the next few days as I didnt expect anything out of this hatch, Im going to be overun Oh well, I can think of worse things Heres a not great pic of the bunch Im waiting on an electric hen type brooder to replace the light so I might get some normal pics soon

SLK69
fantastic - they look so sweet, this has made me even more desperate to hatch my own - so cute - do they think your their mum ? S
ruth1
I think they think the cat is mum since he's the first and most frequent face they see as he sits outside of the inky staring in the door.

ruth1
Cheepy egg no.5 hatched last night I had to help it out a bit though it took all night and was very noisy about it, so we're both a bit knackered. Im going to leave the last one for a bit longer now, ive got some jubilee orp and salmon Faverolle eggs to go in tomorrow, so I'm hoping they will be as successful. I take some piccies later
