Jillus
Has anybody else here been doing surveys for You Gov? I have for the last three years and eventually a few weeks ago reached the £49.50 mark in my account for paid surveys. They pay up after you reach the magical £50, or so they say. For ages after I hit the £49.50 I had no more invites to do surveys and then after numerous emails got another Brand Index survey to do and got to my magical £50. My account now says cheque pending, but it has been pending for two weeks now and I have also not had any more surveys! I would quite like the £50 ( I feel I have earned it!) but wonder if for £16 a year it is worth carrying on should I ever get any more.! Jillus
The power of this forum is truly amazing. Seconds after posting this I got an invitation to do another survey! How cool is that!!
bronze
how do you sign up to it?
Jillus
Just go to http://www.yougov.co.uk/panel/ and sign up after reading all about it. It is quite interesting and not overly time consuming. The survey today was all about the Governments efforts to stop people smoking and our attitudes toward various methods. Valkyrie
Done this for a while, but have missed a few - as a result I have only £24. OH has done this for much longer. I had a whale of a time with the recent survey - it was meant for me! Sometimes you get £2 depending on the subject. There is another one that I do sometimes, but it is really irritating after going through all the motions for 20 minutes only to find that "we already have enough people" so that is the end of that! This consists mostly of techno stuff. Once was "what mobile phone do you have?" none of the ones they showed was like mine and I had to write why mine was different - a decrepit old thing that has been handed down to my by OH and his more modern ones have been given to DD instead! They terminated the survey! Oh, and if, as I did, forget that my son is an adult, I am called a liar and the results will not be used because I probably falsified all my answers! THAT makes me really cross! OH laughs because I rant for ages after!
ChookieCaz
Some companies offer incentives if you refer them to friends and family, provided they use the link. Does YouGov have such a scheme and if so, could someone send it? If I decide to sign up to them, someone might as well get the credit for it. Lewis
I'd never heard of it. Might have to sign up I've just signed up, my referral link is this. Hope I'm ok to post it.
ubereglu
I've just signed up and filled in a survey-I've now got a £1!!! I could do with the extra money, so anything like this is a real bonus.
Chucky Mama
I've signed up too! They are going to wonder what on earth is going on today. My 15 year old son is just old enough to sign up too. A great way for him to earn some cash.
Ain't Nobody Here
I've been doing it since January 2007 and only have £21 . I do all the ones I'm invited to do (except the BrandIndex ones - they are soooo boring and I have no interest whatsoever in brand names ). Don't start unless you're prepared to wait for years to get your £50 . Edit: I've just had a look at my YouGov page and it seems I've got uncompleted surveys (which I never got emails about ). So I now have £21.50 and more to come! (I do find most of the surveys really boring to complete )
Valkyrie
Yes it's all those ones with "what do you think of Bosch, Indesit etc" or cars or "who would you be embarassed to work for" ones that go on for ages - then they have a good little bit at the end. Ain't Nobody Here
I can't work out why I keep getting what seems to be the same survey . My views (if I had any) wouldn't change .
Plum
And you wonder why you get junk mail/emails
Valkyrie
I can't work out why I keep getting what seems to be the same survey . My views (if I had any) wouldn't change . I think they are testing you - I had that a lot at first, now it changes a little. When they ask you for your opinion next time at the end of the survey, say you find it boring to get the same questions each time - that's what I did. Plum I think we should nominate you to join this!
