I have just seen on the news that a helicopter has crashed off Aberdeen. Feel terribly sad but so relieved that my lad flew out this morning and is safe on a rig hundreds of miles away. Feeling guilty too that my boy is OK when so many lives have been lost. Men coming home for Easter and then tragedy strikes so horribly.

Sorry to blub so publicly but know you folk will understand.

oh no. did not know this. I deal with lot of offshore passengers at work. So sad.

Apparently the weather was good, reports say it was a Bond Super Puma and it 'dropped like a stone' 8 confirmed dead and eight missing.

Little bro and dad work offshore and hate when I hear about heli crashes! Dad works out of Aberdeen too but is in the office at the mo and little bro is at home on a day off so they are safe but my stomach still went when I heard.

 

Feel terrible for those lost and their families. My thoughts are with them xx

He phoned from the rig last night, told me not to watch the news any more and not to worry! He was very upbeat but saddened by what had happened as were all the guys he had flown out with . I see Bond are not flying any passengers today out to the rigs.

 

The chances of being involved in a heli or any crash are still far less than getting knocked over by a bus or having a car crash.
