HappyHen
I was sitting having a coffee this morning when I heard a squeek from one of the girls followed immediatly by the sound of something dropping and rolling on plastic - it was our first egg! Problem is we don't know who laid it. It's creamy colour so I guess it must be either the Sussex Star or Amber Star. Does anyone know what colour these hybrids lay? We were so pleased that we built them the hemcore run and have promised them an extension! A proud Mum & Dad
Mrs Frugal
Congratulations !! Isn't it exciting!!
harveypup
Congratulations!!! The only way we could tell who laid what was to "catch them in the act" so to speak. I think the colour tends to vary a bit but eventually you will know just by looking Enjoy your first egg.

HappyHen
Oops forgot to say - I had put some nice comfy straw in the nest box but they'd kicked it all out. Their regular 'let's mess the house up now Mum's tidied it trick'! That's why the egg landed on plastic!

Popcorn
Lovely! your first Egg! You'll definatly get to know who has laid what egg. You'll notice that they'll lay at different times and the eggs have their own distinctness about them from each chicken. How did you eat it? chocchick
Congratulations! See picture in link below. Our amber stars lay eggs usually like the ones on the left but some are paler like the ones on the right. http://club.omlet.co.uk/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=1788&g2_serialNumber=2 Edited September 23, 2006 by Guest
