Why does everything happen at once?

Recommended Posts

Well! I've just broken up for Easter and should have been going to Prague with DH for a well-earned break. BUT..OS home from uni and now diagnosed by gp as having contracted food-poisoning - but we can't work out where he caught it. He is supposed to be going up vaguely in the direction of ANH to Strathclyde to rowing camp with his uni team on Saturday. Not sure how that is going to work as he has lost nearly a stone in weight :(

We were all supposed to be going out for a posh meal with my folks to celebrate their Golden Wedding Anniversary on Wed, but with Luke ill we cancelled and then came the phonecall from my Aunt to say that she had just come home from work to find my uncle in the same place she left him that morning with his cup of tea - but dead. Chaos ensues together with sadness and remorse. Parents feeling vulnerable as he was younger than they are and they thought ' they would be the first to go'.

Outcome? I am taking my parents to Dublin tomorrow to the funeral, YS and DH are going to go to Prague and share the lovely hotel room we had booked in the Hilton! OS is going to mind the chickens, cats and dogs and hope his antibiotics eventually start to make him feel better and that somehow if he delays the Scotland trip until Tuesday he might be fit enough to row for three days. Not too sure about that but he has to try.

Well, as ever, writing it down has helped. I don't like funerals - I don't imagine that anyone does really, but I love my aunt and was very fond of my uncle. In fact he would have thought it really funny that DH and YS were sharing a 'romantic' weekend away.

Hope you all have enjoyable weekends.

Ms Marple what a horrible time for you. I'm so sorry to hear about your uncle. What a shock that must have been for your aunt. I hope the funeral goes ok and that your OS recovers from his tummy troubles.

Life happens like this sometimes and you can't see the wood for the trees. I hope things settle down soon. Sorry you're missing your weekend away.
