How heavy.....

Recommended Posts

.....do you think your hair is?

I just had a complete change of 'do', along with Caitlin and Squidger (first hair cut - I was in floods of tears!), and when we were finished, I weighed the hair that had been cut off me (we had it done at home, so no, I wasn't crawling around a salon picking up my hair!) and it weighed an astonishing 1.5 lbs! Caitlins weighed 0.6 lbs, and we didn't bother with Squidgers wispy off-cuts!

I'm so jealous! I have baby-fine hair - if I go to a salon I sit and look in amazement at other women having their hair cut because there's so much of it! I have got it collar-length at the moment and that's the longest it's ever been, I could never have plaits at school because there just wasn't enough of it.

I shouldn't think mine weighs more than a few ounces. :(

I'm the exact opposite, I had a trim and some layering done last week and filled half a carrier bag with it. MIL reckons she can turn it into yarn and perhaps knit a little hat to keep OH's bald head warm! I would imagine it would be quite itchy though as I have very thick, wavy hair - and have always yearned fo baby soft, sleek treses!

Unfortunately mine is the same - sadly lacking here and kept short

You will never have trouble with foxes if you have that lot cut off, Christian.

Enough to scatter twice round the perimeter of the garden and once round the gasworks. :D

My YS often shaves his head. :? The amount of hair produced is quite astonishing, to say that it it never more than 1/2 a cm at its longest.

I have very thick hair and its always commented on by every hairdresser that I've been too. It takes for ever to blow dry. My ES is the same. The lady at the barbers used to comment that he would make a very good Samson

When I was 15 I had waist length hair and I was a bridesmaid to my cousin. We all went to the hairdressers to have our hair done. We had to have it in a bun, they tried to use their bands to put mine up but they kept breaking. In the end they sent the junior out to buy - in their words 'knicker elastic' to put it up. Gave them a great laugh that day, I was mortified.

I have to say my hair was lovely as it was very shiny mahogany colour (nothing like the colour it is now :( )

Wowsers. That's a lot of hair!

There IS an emotional attachment to it isn't there? But it can be wonderfully liberating do have a new 'do'.

I love that feeling of lightness around the head - a weight truly has been lifted! And I like the fact the wind can kiss my neck. Ooh it's a good, new feeling!

I've not had that feeling for a while as my hair is boob-length and I'm too scared to get it cut given it's so long! Quandaries!!:whistle::)

I should imagine it weighs at least a pound.

Christian - :lol::lol::lol::lol: Bless you!

I used to have my hair mid way down my back when I was younger, then I got it cut to about shoulder length and realised how much quicker it was to wash etc. I have really thick hair and nowadays it's usually between chin and shoulder length and layered out to make it lighter. I do prefer it though as it now tends to stay straighter and is an awful lot quicker to wash and dry.
