For my birthday my mum bought me a lovely egg holder from Debenhams - it was really pretty and had matching egg cups etc.

 

When she gave it to me I said it reminded me of a hen shaped egg holder she used to have years ago and my dad went to the garage and came back in with it - they got it when they married!!!

 

I said even though it wasnt modern and not normally my sort of thing I would rather have that than the new one so my dad washed it and gave it to me and now I keep my girls eggs in it! Husband doesnt like it but I think its rather retro and a tad bunting cupcake! See the pics!

I think it's lovely! my SIL just bought be a portmeirion one for my Easter pressie!

 

I already have a hand painted one that my parents bought me, but this portmeirion one is a collectors item as they are expensive to buy normally (she got this from a charity shop)

 

It will go with my other chickenailia I am acquiring...lolol

Just look for chicken stuff and found exactly the same as my hen egg holder and it was £95!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

Husband said we should sell it.

I saw that too.

 

Until now its never had an egg in it - dad had it in the garage with a load of old odd keys in!

 

Doesnt matter what its worth or not its a nice place to put the girls eggs.

I will have to take a pic of mine that mum and dad bought me, I use it everyday for my eggs. Mine is hand painted as well.

I have two of the black and white price kensington hens...they look great in our conservatory.

 

I would like one of their duck shaped egg holders but I've only seen one and it was far too expensive.

Keep telling the children off (4 and 2) as they have developed a liking of keep taking the lid off the hen egg holder and touching the eggs!!!

 

Never had a chip in decades, two weeks with me and nearly chipped already!

ok here are mine,

first the hand painted egg holder I use everyday that my parents bought me

 

 

and then the portmeirion one with a few other items of chickenailia I have got recently, a planter and a painted iron door stop.

I think that's lovely, mazzyc! The fact that it was one of your parents' wedding presents would make it even more special if it were mine, never mind any rarity value.

thanks Olly it is rather special to me as my parents hunted whilst on holiday for one for me bless them, so it means a lot to me.

I love all my gifts though, so hubby is now having to put me up a shelf and the planter will have to find a plant and go outside.. LOLOL
