MedusA
Yesterday evening, my friend Julie from the Allotments phoned me. One of her hens was being increasingly bullied by the others and was now at the stage where she couldn't come out of the hen house without being attacked, so was just cowering inside all day. She asked me if there was any way I could take her, to save her from her misery. So..... meet Hedwig, Chicken of Fate. Julie says she is around 4 and was bought as a pure breed (but she's not sure what). Anybody have any ideas of her breed? She is totally white except for one black tail feather. Even if she's no longer laying (Julie has so many hens she's really not sure), I am happy to let her live out her retirement with me. I have her in quarantine in my spare eglu while I assess how healthy she is. She's been treated for Scaly Leg so I'll have to make sure that has gone before I try to introduce her to the others. She's very nervous at the moment, but I'm hoping that she will gain confidence in time.
