I'm waiting for my cube to be delivered - today!! :D Omlet said it would be here in the morning, but no sign yet (I've been staring out of the window since stupid of clock!).

Once OH has put it up, we can go and fetch our 4 girls from the breeders.

I can't remember when I was this excited (or should that be eggcited)!!!

Pics to follow, once the girls are in residence!

 Bet you are so excited :D I had my cube in the garden for a long time before we could pick up the hens. (we were about to go away).

Its lovely when you get them, be prepared for it to take over though and you will burn things in the oven, forget to eat, get up extra early, keep checking them etc etc.......Life before chickens made me wonder what I did all day!!

So happy for you

I've gone for the (cube green) , OH wanted a traditional garden colour.

The tension is getting too much, my OH has told me its only just after half 10 so I need to be patient, but we've both taken today off work, to build the cube and then pick up the girls, and think if I wait any longer I'll explode with the excitement!!

I have gone from excited to devasted in the space of half an hour.

At 12, I rang Omlet, as my cube hadn't arrived (it was meant to be here in the morning), the friendly girl gave me the number of the delivery company. I phoned them, only to be told it hadn't been put on the van this morning, because it was too big and they are going to deliver tomorrow instead. This is unacceptable because 1. Both me and OH had taken a day off work today 2. I'm meant to be picking my girls up this afternoon. I can't believe a delivery company could do this. I have gone crazy down the phone, as I thought I'd at least get a courtesy call. The manager wasn't very helpful, and said he'd look into what could be done.

Gutted, absolutely gutted! :(

How awful, If their depot is nearby I would normally demand that they put it on a spare vehicle and get it over to you however in this financial climate there are usually very few spare vehicles in a depot these days :(

Could you appeal to their better side and mention that the chooks are 'being delivered' and there will be no home waiting for them?

We have light at the end of the tunnel, my tears about my "homeless chooks" has resulted in the manager bringing it over himself.

He phoned me, apologised, and said he'd be over in an hour. However, I don't know how long it will take for my OH to put it together, so I might be too late to get my girls today, as the breeder is over an hour away. I will ring her once its put together. Such a shame though, as if I can't go today, I can't get them until Sunday.

Gosh, being a chicken mummy is tramatic already, and they haven't even arrived!

OH has just gone to buy them a few things, and can only find budgie mirrors which are a bit small. Any suggestions?

Tell him to come back and get building

Sounds like a traumatic day but glad its here. Will look forward to seeing you all set up and chickens installed. :D

As soon as they are here, I'll post some pics. Also if I can get the reactions of Henry (14 year old terrier) and Thomas (7 year old tabby cat) I'll include them - although I am going to try and keep them away from the girls for a good few days, and manage the introductions with great care!

I agree with Griffin - they'll be fine to wait in their box for a little while. And it's good to put them in their new home nearer the end of the day, as then they'll shuffle off to bed and get settled into their shiny new cube! Cabbages or corn on the cob are great entertainment for chooks. Fingers crossed, and looking forward to seeing the pics!

(Note - amended link - WWW taken out).

So exciting!!

Need to edit my autosignature now! Couldn't include a photo of Henry the terrier as he's way too excited, so he's been relegate to indoors until he can contain himself!
