We've got one of these and they're fine if you driving through wild open country where there are few radio stations and lots of free frequencies but utter rubbish whe you go through towns. All you get is white noise as the device searches around trying to find a free one.

Personally I use a 3mm cable and attach my iPod to that - it's a lot easier and far more reliable. Hubby has had his officially "plumbed in" by Halfords so he just plugs in and goes. That's pricey though.

That's never happened to me and I drive down to London quite frequently.

BUT

Peugeot charged me £40 to plumb mine in when I bought the car.

If you have a front jack connector on your radio you can use one of these

I have one & I used it really well up until Christmas time when the radio frequency I was tuned in to suddenly became a French station

I have never found another reliable frequency (reception is poor here), so am back to burning CD's which sound much better anyhow.

Mine was a Belkin, & it was reduced from £35 to £5 in Amazon.A bargain when it worked!

I am interested in the cable idea - never heard of that before....will get Hubby on to it I think

I got one from Maplin for about £19 and it works fine, even in London. You do sometimes get a bit of fuzziness and usually I find I need to move the transmitter to a slightly different position in the car (it sits on the front seat if empty, in the console if I've got a passenger). I think it's brilliant, can't recall the name but it's orange and white!

We've got one, don't know what make though (can find out from hubby later). It plugs into the cigarette lighter and then tunes into the radio. We regularly drive from Cardiff to Harrogate (and back again) and hardly ever get any interference, hubby uses it everyday driving to work too.

Have you got a cassette player in your car? If you have, I'd recommend getting a tape adaptor like this

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Black-car-cassette-tape-adaptor-for-MP3-IPOD-NANO-CD_W0QQitemZ380118391394QQcmdZViewItem

I can't recommend this seller as I haven't used them, but this is the kind of thing I mean.

We've got one of these and it means that there is no issue with radio frequencies. You just put the tape thing in the tape player and plug in your ipod/ mp3 player to the headphone adaptor. Cheap as chips too :D

You can get those from the pound shop or supermarket for less :D

Most new cars now have a 3mm jack somewhere so you can plug them straight in. Worth checking your manual as they are NOT in obvious places! Mine is in the glove box (which indidentally can also be used as a cooler!) and Mums is in the central consol under the flap thingy in the box where you chuck all your junk!!!

Thanks for all your replies :D :D

Have been looking at the Halfords website and I'm thinking as they have some good deals on at the mo, I might just upgrade my cd player to one with a mp3 jack :D :D

I use my ipod so much and all my music is stored on it so in the long run I think it might be worth the extra pennies :D
