buffie
Hi this may already be posted but I bathed the girls at the wekend. Very sucessfully so wanted to pass that on. I held them and let them settle in sink, a little water under them and gently sloshed it over the feathers, one girl at a time you understand! I checked the vent area and gave them a thorough check up, the process made them go very calm. This is most unusual for harrie who likes to chunter and cluck. After a good soaking, not too much water, I had tap running and gently rubbed in small amount of ecover washing up liquid. thorough rinse off and then towel dried on my knee gently. Most of the wet off and they walked round the garden and dried off. I wanted to prepeare for winter but this was a doddle. In winter I'll use a drier on a low setting and not too near feathers! Happy pretty girls. Bx

Lesley
We washed Mrs.W from beak to toes. We used baby shampoo -No Tears' formula so that it doesn't sting. She loved it
Guest
I really appreciate being able to look through the forums and read up things like this. I am learning so very very much, thank you all you 'past' forum posters. Months later people are still looking at them and learning from them. Popcorn
My Louise is so rough and tumble she's totally filthy. Her comb is black, and she guzzles water down so irratically she's always got a wet, dirty neck. I'm sure she buries her head in the soil when i'm not looking I haven't washed her yet. I'm too scared of her catching a cold now the winter has arrived.

Karen & co.
I don't want to sound totally thick! but doesn't shampoo or soap stop their feathers from being waterproof? I wouldn't want to find them waterlogged from soaking up all the rain we have been having!!!! Karen x
buffie
Hi They aren't waterproof, featherwise, so bathing has no impact but rinse well!! This time of year they will appreciate a good leg and face wash and I may go the whole hog if the weather gets any worse!! A blow dry, away from feathers, may also be on the cards!! I do get upset when they get soaked but they seem ok with it, need to find a way of keeping them dry, my girls just don't seem to shelter!
