callyfc
My beautiful 3 girls were in the omlet netting having fun in the sun, I went in the house for 10 secs (you would think Id know better) when I heard a mighty noise, scwarking. I ran out expecting to see a fox to be confronted by a dog , in the netting barking madly, and the 3 girls escaping next door. I caught nut quicly , but the other 2 were scared and running away, I returned to our garden to get the treats bowl, and then returned next door, but no sign of the girls. My neighbour helped me search, but no sign, Im so worried. will they come home Ive left their treats bowl near where they went over. Any Ideas??? Im dreading the kids comming home I feel sick. Budgies
Oh no, how horrible for you! They will have really sought deep cover if possible. I once found one of mine under a bench cover that goes to the floor, she'd run under it in a panic and couldn't find her way out. Once scared they tend not to talk much either. Could they have moved on from your neighbour's garden? Sorry, I don't really know what to suggest except to call them gently and calmly and move slowly looking for them - they need enticing out after that scare! Good luck, hope your girls return soon
katieadams
Oh no how awful for you Is it worth knocking on the neighbours' doors to see if they've trotted along the gardens? With some corn in your pocket of course too. I read a thread not long ago where someone lost a chicken and it turned out it was safe and sound so there is hope - a neighbour had found it and brought it back next day, they'd been knocking round looking for it's owner. Good luck and keep us posted x
cathybc
sorry to hear about your girls. Hopefully they won't have got far and you will find them. Fingers crossed for you.
Egluntyne
They may find their way home as dusk approaches. Keep going out and calling them, they will recognise your voice. Alert your neighbours, and tell them that the hens might roost in trees later. Fingers crossed that theyreturn home.
Ain't Nobody Here
How horrible . I'm sure they'll be safe somewhere nearby . If they managed to escape, it sounds like they're probably not injured. Do you know the dog? How on earth did it get in ?
callyfc
Found them!!!! Hiding in a hole behind the neighbours shed, they were really frightened, but now safe and sound in their run. just came back inside and heard commotion again, the dog was back barking at them in their run, i chased him this time , he jumped over the fence and lives 2 doors away, I went round and got a mouthful of abuse from the neighbour!!! that he was doing no harm! I told her if she cant control the dog Ill call the RSPCA next time. Im really worried hell be back, and bother them in the run. At least they are safe. katieadams
Hooray Sooo glad they're home safe! What rotten neighbours to give you abuse!! The dog clearly was doing harm - there should be something you can do about dogs roaming about your garden unattended, but I don't know what

Griffin
Speak to your local dog warden. It is a criminal offence to not have your dog under control and she needs reminding that she could be prosecuted. Your dog warden will pop around there and give her a good telling off!

scrambledhead
So pleased that there was a happy ending. Shame about the dog's owner, not really the dog's fault. Perhaps she should be reminded that the dog could have frightened your children, she may take more note of that!

Cooks
I am so relieved they are safe I thought it meant the other 'lost' initially. That neighbour needs a mouthfull back! cheek!
Blackrocksrock
The owner is just awful and should take more care of the dog - she should not have a dog and only too glad you found the girls - its awful when you lose them.
callyfc
Beleive you and me I thought they were well and truley "lost", I felt sick! So happy to have them back. They will not be out unsupervised even for 1 min now. The neighbour has 1 more chance, if her dog comes to visit again, I will deffinately call the dog warden. Thanks for all the support! sparkysmum
What a terrible day, an emotional rollercoaster for you. With regard to the dog, I would def speak to the dog warden who in turn should warn your neighbour. Uncontrolled dogs are positively dangerous. alih
Glad they are found. Is there any way you can stop the dog getting into your garden where the chickens are? Whereabouts in Manchester are you?
callyfc
The dog came through our next door neighbours garden and then jumped over the 4 ft fence into our garden, he then jumped into our omlet netting which is when the girls quickly hopped out!, I think the only thing that can stop this dog is the owner. Im in prestwich, where are you Alih? Cally x
Ain't Nobody Here
Could you add something to the top of the 4 ft fence? I added trellis to the top of our 3.5 ft wall and our dog can't get over it. Next door's cat can, though . Even netting of some sort might stop him?
katieadams
How are they today? Have they settled down a bit? And are you getting over it a bit? Bet you didn't sleep so well last night after that trauma
