Chucky Mama
Crickey, trying to join Freecycle, been at it for ages and still not approved yet. Why is it so difficult to get accepted. Wouldn't be suprised if they asked for DNA next or fingerprints!
Scramble
sorry, I don't mean to laugh especially at the Masons link but only because it's mentioned a lot in Ashes to Ashes as for fingerprints.. They'll get back to you on that!
Chucky Mama
Haven't got into Ashes to Ashes yet, do you need to have watched it from the start?
Scramble
um, maybe, as there kind of a mystery going on, each week there's a different case, but last weeks ep (DON'T LOOK IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW) the evil mason head of police (not gene hunt (sp???) )shot someone and then shot himself, and the main character keeps getting mysterious phone calls and someone is leaving her roses (mysterious phone guy) who says that they can get back home together I really like it, it'll never be as good as Life on Mars, buts it's really good all the sae
Chucky Mama
hmmm, may have to give it a try. Didn't like life on Mars but I think that was down to not liking the actor who took the main part.

Chucky Mama
I am now 'awaiting approval by group owner' - ooh I am starting to get cross!!! My laptop is cooking my legs and it looks like I wont be able to get on tonight. It had better be worth it when I do get on.

Yolky
It does take so long to be accepted on to Freecycle and then within a week of joining you want to quit it because you get so many emails

meezers
Just wait until you try to post on there - took me several attempts before I realised there was a 'standard format' I had to use, and then you have to wait for the post to be approved again
Tessa the Duchess
I would like to stand up in defense of Freecycle I am a moderator on our local group and all the moderators are volunteers with jobs and lives of their own. The reason it sometimes takes a while to be approved is because maybe the moderator is putting her children to bed or has gone out for a walk because it is a lovely day It will be approved very soon. You should only be moderated for your first posting to the group to make sure you are not a spammer or a loony It is true you will get hundreds of e.mails, but it is easy to organise them in your mail box. Standing down off my soapbox now. Tessa
bluekarin
I was, after sorting out all the various passwords and usernames for Yahoo, accepted within 10 minutes this morning for Freecycle, the Salisbury one OMG to the amount of emails I've been getting! But I have to offer something before I can start accepting
Lewis
I opted for the "only be contacted by admin on very special occasions" email thing I only get one every so often, and can look whenever I want not tbo told whats there.
bluekarin
I will have to have a look at the email options as it is crazy the amount you get sent.
Redwing
You can opt for the 'daily digest' which is a run down of items that went on that day so you dont get separate ones for each item however sometimes that might mean that the item has been nabbed before you see it Membership seems to vary in different groups, my group in Bristol were very strict and it took about 4 days for me to be accepted during which they questioned me closely about my motives for joining My group in Towcester however was a 'click on this link and you have joined' which was brill

Thank goodness i'm on daily digests or with them and notifications from here i'd be getting thousands of emails
Chucky Mama
I don't even know if I want to be a part of it yet but you can't see what it is all about before joining. I can't understand why it is so 'cloak and dagger'.

Seagazer
It took me a couple of days to be accepted and to be honest I got fed up with all the emails. I haven't done anything with them for ages now. I might try to get back into it as I do feel better giving things away rather than taking them to the dump.
Lewis
I will have to have a look at the email options as it is crazy the amount you get sent. Just go into the settings, its really easy to do. You can have Daily Digest, which sends you one email a day with the top things in, or Admin only, so you just get sent the emails from admin. Ain't Nobody Here
I've been on Freecycle for quite a while and was thinking "emails? I never get emails " I must have ticked that option too .
Chucky Mama
I'm in!! hurray, going to have a look this afternoon. Hope it was all worth it.
Chook n Boo Mum
I opted for all the emails, sometimes I get 30-40 through in one hit, then only one or 2. I do find that if I have posted something, within nano-seconds of it arriving in my inbox, I have a response. I do tend to wait a while before answering unless they have a fantastic reply for me - or simply literate ie not text-speak, and single word answers get nowhere either If someone has taken the time to reply in a polite & coherent fashion, they are far more likely to be successful! I do usually reply to everyone who responds though...... I'm waiting to hear if I've been successful on a chintz fabric & cream cord offer...I did offer to help her make a beanbag cover, I wonder if that would swing it one way or the other Sha x P.S. It didn't swing it my way!!!!
