dame egna
I have a bucket full of chicken poop, that I don't have a clue what to do with! I don't have a compost heap so I can't bung it on there - I'd shove it on the garden but it has bits of wood shaving and straw in with it, would that matter? It'd stink as well wouldn't it? Also, what do you do with your egg shells after eating the eggs? I don't like wasting stuff, but at the moment they go in the bin
Budgies
Buy a cheap plastic composter (the local councils often sell them cheaply as an incentive) and start your own compost heap. I started one when I got the girls and have had the most amazing compost for my tiny raised veg bed ever since. All the poos and the bedding and the eggshells can go in there, plus all your kitchen waste, shredded paper, straw etc. It's great fun too, believe it or not!! dame egna
Will it all fit in a small composter?! Also, how long does it take to compost down into something useable?
Lewis
I compost it. You could dig a trench and put in in that, then cover it all over with soil, and hopefully it'll decompose. Alternatively, have you got allotments near you, or try freecycle
Redwing
If you get enough to fill an old feedsack you could freecycle it, it seems to go very well. Do you have a garden waste bin that the council collects? chicken poo and bedding can usually go in those
Egg Lou
Poo in garden and for compost.. Egg shells.. I bake for 10 minutes, then crush and give back to the girls in their pellets to help with new shell production!
