selling eggs

Recommended Posts

thanks guys, the girls at work are offering me 50-60p for 6, will have to bring me some empty egg boxes to fill,

:shock::shock::shock::shock::shock::shock::shock:

They are ripping you off Tiggy!! Thats 10p or less an egg, an insult to your girls effort in laying them!

I haven't any "spare" yet, but when I do, I'm planning to charge £1.50 for 6, and people seem willing to pay that, as organic shop bought eggs can be anything up to £2.50 for half a dozen. In fact I have a queue of willing customers who keep asking me "You selling your eggs yet?"

I sell our eggs at £1 for 6 at work - I simply bring them into the coffee room and leave them next to an honesty pot. It works really well - people have been really nice about bringing back the eggboxes too.

We sell them in two "flavours": some boxes have six big brown eggs from our ex-bats, and others have brown, white and blue ones (with contributions from our Leghorns and Legbars). The multi-coloured ones are very popular indeed - though I keep telling them the larger ex-batt eggs are better value for money

I think we could possibly get away with selling them for £1.50, but having a nice round number means less trouble with change.

I'm planing on selling mine for £1.50 for 6. ( though my neighbour insists on £4 a dozen) I have bought a large sign from Flytes of fancy and it is going at the end of the drive tomorrow as I have 45 eggs so far this week and I am away all next week.

I also ordered boxes and labels from F.O.F and they all came next day, fantastic service from Anne on the phone as well.

We sell our excess at £1.50 for 6.

Most people that buy them say we need to put our prices up. I like £1.50 as it's easy with the coins!

One family insist on £2.00 for 6 and won't buy them for anything else - which is nice.

We have been getting to the situation where we have ~a week's or orders booked in advance.

We sell to friends, family, and neighbours.

I haven't been able to sell any yet. And I've got loads of buyers waiting. I've only got 3 decent layers and a family of 5 people. Out of my other 6 chickens 1 is a cockerel, 1 is broody sitting on 5 !egg!s, 2 are not old enought to lay, 1 bantie just getting started, 1 pekin does it when she feels like it.

Lets hope I get a couple of girls out of my hatching eggs.

Oh dear tidygirlsuk, I can really sympathise!

In the very week that I "officially" started selling eggs at work, one of my Leghorns went broody (apparently very rare!), one lay softies all week, and we had to withdraw my most reliable layer's eggs because she she had antibiotics (she hurt her leg; she's fine now). How embarrassing!

Fortunately they're all back on song now (except the Leghorn, who is still broody ), and my customers are happy again!

£1.50 for 6 or £1 for 4 eggs. We have a waiting list situation at the moment :lol:

Last time we had a waiting list, we went and got more chickens :lol:
