Tin Tin
I've just returned from a week in weymouth in a static caravan and after that, if your in a tent make sure you've got woolley sox, and a thick jumper for night time, it gets pretty chilly at the mo enjoy it, i went camping last year for the first time with hubby and daughter and it was brill (still needed the jumper and sox though and it was early september!) Tin Tin
It wasn't 4 weeks but sure felt like it, think thats why my fingers are suffering from over clicking! I went with 10 special needs kids (14 to 17 years) and averaged 4 hours sleep a night! it was great though
Snowy
Camping is great fun! Definitely an airbed (although if you are after a single bed, those army surplus ones are soooooo comfy!). Make your sleeping area as comfy and cosy as possible - blankets, pillows, the lot! Go prepared for the worst - lots of layers, waterproofs and wellies, long shorts are better than trousers or the bottoms of your trousers are permanently wet. If you have electric hookup you can get little camping heaters - makes such a difference if the weather does turn bad and helps keep the inside of the tent damp free. Get all that sorted and you will guarentee fine weather! Can you tell I'm now an expert at wet weather camping? I have friends that now ask me when my hols are so they can avoid them! Have just booked to go back to Brittany again in July. I can't wait!
Ain't Nobody Here
Old towels . Put one in the doorway of the tent (assuming it's one you can stand up in!) and leave your wet/grassy shoes there rather than trailing it into the tent .
chelsea
Camping essentials: A bucket (for emergencies.....if you get what I mean ) Dustpan & brush ( for sweeping grass out the tent) Tin foil, bin bags, Wet wipes & kitchen roll Corkscrew Washing up bowl (use for dishes and use as mini fridge filled with water to cool drinks) Cheap pair of flip flops or similar to wear to and in the showers Toilet roll (in case the toilet block runs out)
Snowy
The best advice I had was to keep a lidded plastic crate fully stocked with all our requirements and ready to use. Ours holds all the pots, pans, crockery, games, lantern, matches, small bottles of washing up liquid, salt, herbs and spices etc. When we get home from a trip it is replenished and goes back into the loft. When we go away, I just have to load the campingaz fridge with perishable food and pack some clothes and we are all ready to go. It means I always know that I have those things like tin and bottle openers!

ubereglu
This time in two weeks I'll be staying near Durham-actually I'll prbably be at my sister's house, but never mind the precise detail...I've just got to get the last two weeks of exams out of the way! Sam Palmer
We've just come back from a few days camping in West Wales. We went to Skomer Island to see the puffins (so sweet!). Air beds are good and decent bedding. We took just sleeping bags and I was freezing (the others were fine, my sons are hardened campers with the scouts though!) - ended up wearing 4-5 layers to bed. So a duvet/blanket may be handy! Chopping board, can opener, knife etc essential. We bought a really good wind up, rechargable tent light from Milletts, (rectangular with rows of lcds). £20, really good bright light, better than the wind up lantern we bought. PurpleTree
We're going camping in Holland on Sunday for 2 weeks. Was going through my head last night everything we need to pack. We've just bought our very first airbed - we've been camping together for about 7 years! I decided I'm too old to sleep on just roll mats and blankets, especially for 2 weeks. Here's a pic of our tent in Boroughbridge, nr Harrogate last year, if anyone's interested. We managed to pick the one dry, hot week of the Summer holidays
