Molly's got us into trouble with the neighbours!

Recommended Posts

still having the odd blip but it's not as bad as it used to be. Bit of a bad night last night, the only thing that got her to shut up was to spray her with a bit of water every time she kicked off. Only had to do it 2 or 3 times before she got the message.

it doesn't help that she was sleeping right next to us in the tent last week and is now back to being on her own. Her routine was totally disturbed. The water was very effective last night though. I just had a cup of water and splashed a bit on her when she was noisy.

I can strongly recommend the DAP collar, it works a treat for my Terrier, whos started to get more needy now he's getting old and deaf.

I also echo whats been said about letting your dog on your bed. I started it when Henry was a pup when he was yelping and its been really hard to get out of. We've now compromised on a bed for him under the bed, so he's near but not on the bed

We always have "last pee pees out the back" whenever the last one comes up and he's fine until morning even with his ageing bladder!

You're best off without her being in season TBH. I know it sounds harsh, but I once fostered a rescue lurcher (many years ago when I worked from home) and she promptly came into season between being rescued and spayed  not much fun for her or me :(

Certainly in lurcher/greyhound rescue world, all of them (male and female) are neutered/spayed before being rehomed.

I just cuddle other peoples' puppies, kittens and babies!

You have some lovely photos Poet. Which campsite was it? was it windy, we are a bit nervous of wind in a tent on the caost after a frightening experience in Dorset.

Aberafon, it was only windy at night, the site has some sheltered pitches but we wanted the view! We paid for it though, with sleepless nights

Speying is essential I've decided. We had a GSD whom we didn't spey - and she got mammary cancer at 8. Apparently, it is less common if they are speyed as early as possible.

Mind you, she lived to 15+ and died of old age really. But we'd have spared her about 4 major operations if we'd bitten the bullet earlier.

Both of our old girls suffered huge pyametras (sp?) due to non-speying, DH didn't agree with the procedure, but having had both the girls developing them, I have pulled rank & insisted all of our subsequent Labs are speyed at the earliest opportunity (after 1st season) There are enough Lab pups out there already without us adding to the explosion, and we've had a few problems healthwise, which would be stupid to pass on, so no contest really in my book! BTW, Gem & Rosie were 13 1/2 & 14 when they eventually died of unrelated problems

Glad to see Molly is responding well to the training Poet, keep up the good work!

One of my Labs has taken to barking a few times at dawn, which I can only assume is an unwanted visitor in the garden as she settles quickly without our intervention usually & if we do come down & let her out she sprouts wings & flies out of the door to check her chooks!
