Cinnamon
My eldest has her GCSE's at the moment, & woke at 4am this moring covered in a bumpy very itchy rash Its still bad now,& she feels a little sick too,but I guess that could be nerves for the exam she has this afternoon. She was outside yesterday, but kept in the shade & had lots of cream on.The cream she has used before, but I guess it could be an allergy to it as the rash is on the areas she put it on,plus her hands. I have given her an anti allergy tablet & we have an emergency appointment this morning, & happily the school have said she need only go in for her xams for the rest of this week (full study leave doesn't start for her until next week ) Rotten timing, isn't it? Egluntyne
What a nuisance. Hopefully it is just a prickly heat type rash and will settle.
ClaireG
Oh no Hope it's not making her too miserable and that the Drs can give her something to help.
poachedegg
Any exams she takes when she is poorly, make sure the examinations officer at the school puts a note in with her papers.....they can/may take this into account when marking. Hope she is feeling better soon.
The Dogmother
Oh blimey, poor love. I find the Boots homeopathic bite and sting spray great for alleviating any itchy rashes. I hope that it's not serious.. has she had chickenpox?
Cinnamon
She has Clare, & its not chicken pox like, but sort of just lumpy wheals......might be prickly heat maybe? Hope so, so at least it will calm down soon I will look out for that Boots stuff, thanks
The Dogmother
Does sound like prickly heat then; it really was humid yesterday evening, so that might be it. The spray comes in a tall thin, brown container. Nelsons do this one The Boots one is made by Nelsons but is cheaper.
Cinnamon
Super, thanks. Will still take her to the Docs,in case it isn't that. I think I have some Magicool spray upstairs which treats prickly heat too, if thats what it is Honestly, the worry children put you through! chickencam
I hope it settles soon and she feels better this afternoon. Fingers crossed for her. Have I seen you mention that she had hayfever too?
Cinnamon
No, that is the other daughter, although Devon does get a bit sniffly too. The nurse was a bit vague - porbably a heat related, stress triggered allergic reaction of some kind The Cetirizine helped a lot, so thats good. We have discovered its only in the places she used Piz Buin sun cream, which may explain a lot..........

chickencam
Glad the antihistamines have made a difference. I have had allergic reactions to suncreams in the past and now only use the Nivea spray ones because I know I am am ok with those.
Cinnamon
Re the informing of the examinations officer & so forth. Devon was really uncomfortable during her exam today & found that she couldn't concentrate at all because of the itching. Does anyone know if I can still inform the examinations officer after the exam has taken place, or if it needs to be done before hand? Not sure - the papers will have been sent tonight - however if you contact the school first thing tomorrow, they will be able to advise. ubereglu
I'm glad you've worked out what caused it anyway, that's sometimes the hardest thing and I'm glad she's getting better too. I'm surprised that she gets study leave from next week, as by the end of next week all my exams are over. However we do get free lessons once we've taken the exam in that subject-I usually go home as I only live round the corner.
