tidygirlsuk
I have two. First one is plymouth rock (barred), second one cream legbar boy. They are sooooooooo cute. Anything from the remaining couple of eggs? Andrew One of the silver grey dorkin's were tweeting in the egg when I put it up to my ear a 6am this morning. The cream legbar hadn't even pipped this morning, I can't believe that hes fully hatched, the plymouth rock was pipped ages before it hatched. I'll check the others later

(hatch) Will he be staying or are you getting a day-old female? We are keeping one cockerel, but I've already made the call to the breeder about getting a girl. His are due satuday but he has told me to call on friday. He has got a friend who's legbars are due too.
tidygirlsuk
now I'm confused. What do silver grey dorkin chicks look like because I've just found an empty white shell (which were dorkin) kicked out of the nest. Either that the plymoth rock hasn't hatched yet or I've now got 3 chicks!?
Lewis
They look similar to Cream Crested Legbar Chicks, only a bit lighter. You might want to lift her up and see whats going on You shouldn't cause too much upset if she is friendly as you said.

Griffin
I think that's a boy Dorking you've got there with the Legbar I didn't like to say earlier but I didn't think your chick looked like a Plymouth Rock! Here are my Dorkings:
tidygirlsuk
I haven't lifted her but I snooped about a bit, and i found an empty cream legbar and dorkin shell. There maybe more another but I'm not sure. I've only seen 2 chicks at one time so I'm worried that the plymouth rock that pipped first and tweeting might not of hatched at all. I'll keep you posted. You sex them the same as Cream Legbars, the males are lighter so I think the right is a female and the other 2 are males?

Griffin
Yes it was a girl and two boys. The girl died though She hadn't absorbed all the yolk when she hatched and had a bloody navel. I guess she got an infection.

I wouldn't be suprised if they are all boys, we only have boys in this house, I'm out numbered with One husband and 3 sons

tidygirlsuk
Awwww that Plymouth Rock is sooooooo tiny! It is so cute. I didn't know what it was going to look like as a chick. It is black with a white spot on its head, white on its chest, and white on its wing tips. It reminds me of postman pat's cat Jess, . It's ashame that it won't stay like that. tidygirlsuk
Ahhhh you could call it Pingu or Happy Feet. Bless it - it's gorgeous! Emma.x That is a lovely idea for names but we have just had to tape its legs because it seems to have one spraddle leg so I don't think its feet are very happy maybe if its feet get better I could call it that. I've had to put it in a brooder because the mom was knocking it over when she moved around. So its all on its own with a stuffed blue tit. As long as nothing else is wrong, it should work. One of the chicks we raised a couple of weeks back had the same problem, but was much better after being taped up. We knick-named him 'splat', and it sort of stuck! Before After Make sure the floor surface of the brooder is very grippy, use kitchen towell, jaycloth or even an old tea-towell, anything that will give the little chap a better grip while his legs get stronger. tidygirlsuk
Thanks andrew. How long does it take to be corrected ? It only seems to be one leg. It looks a lot better already. Do you think the hen will except it back, when it is better beacuse its as shame to leave it on its own. Has anyone ever seperated mother and chicks before 6 weeks. I don't want to do this but I don't want a lone chick either. I'm hopefully getting a cream legbar girl chick this weekend which I could put in the brooder too. But what would be a good age to put all 4 chicks together as I don't want to leave it too late? Sorry about all the questions.
