Thank you all so much for your good advice and support. I have reported him to ebay, but he knows he's got a great product and will sell it for more than I could afford - so I'm going to let this one go as a bad egg (boom boom!)

I'm trying not to be bitter, but I don't think I want to give him my hard earned cash anyway (although yellow eglus are lovely).

I'm sure the right eglu or cube is out there for me, although I do sincerely feel that being denied more chickens is an abuse of my human rights!

Thanks again - you're all marvellous.

I said I had noticed this item yesterday and wondered if the listing was for a duplicate elu or a mistake in re-listing:

Dear kimbo_frog,

this eglu was not ment to be buy it now as it is a rare colour. there is nothing wrong with it, it was just a typing error.

I think he may have been looking on here and realised that its a "rare" colour

Maybe everyone who isnt happy on ebay with the price their item sold at should not sell and relist!!...

This is why ebay has reserve prices and several chances BEFORE its listed to check over your items listing...

Oh come on ... you can't enter a BIN price 'just by accident'. As you say, that's why you get a chance to check your entry!

He's being economical with the truth - he obviously realised he could get more and changed his mind. Realistically though I think you are right to let it go, you can't force him to sell it to you and you'll just give yourself a lot more grief. I hope the right one comes up soon for you.

I think he might be deluding himself if he things he'll get much more than £250 at auction, even for a 'rare' yellow one. I think we established it's a MK1, and there's been a few of them on e-bay recently. Of the ones I was watching, one got £205 (green) and the other £253 (red).

I agree that it's best to let it go, although I would still submit something to E-Bay.

Really sorry to hear this.

It may be a minor consolation, but he'll have to pay fees on the aborted sale unless he goes through the "unpaid item" process. And if he goes through that, he'll have to get your agreement that it was a joint decision not to go ahead.

I would definitely leave feedback. Just saying "Seller says it was accidentally listed as Buy It Now and refused to honour sale. Very disappointed.

Once again, thank you all for your advice and support. I've contacted Ebay and messaged him although he's not responding.

What galls the most is that he didn't apologise - just presented the re-listing to me as fact and advised me to re-bid. I've now left negative feedback on his account and hope this puts off others from having similar bad luck.

Am waiting for Ebay to make a decision about the matter.

In the meantime will keep my eyes peeled for another elusive bargain - let me know if you see one too!!

Kind Regards

Dougie

Just being nosey really, but did this proceed CC?

There's another one very similar recently been posted http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Never-Used-Pink-Omlet-Eglu-Chicken-House-Coup-Run_W0QQitemZ180370408792QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Pet_Supplies_Poultry?hash=item29feea0558&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=65%3A12|66%3A2|39%3A1|72%3A1683|240%3A1318|301%3A0|293%3A1|294%3A50, either yours has not happened or the matching one which had been promised to a local school has been put up for sale...sounds a bit dodgy to me, or maybe I'm just getting cynical in my advancing years!!

I was watching both the yellow and this pink one rather half-heartedly to see the prices the eventually went for.

Why can't people just play fair?!

Shame the yellow one has gone up to high (is that a coincidence I wonder with only 2 bidders....?), one of us could have won it at a ridiculously low price & sold it to moomperu, who could have pulled out of the complaint & had himself a bargain - play the sneak at his own game....!

(And for what it's worth, the original listing shows as "sold" as BIN on the ended listings too!)

It was our fault, we couldn't wait, the guy who is selling it does not have it, it is in a third parties hands and she was not answering her phone... so we couldn't wait as the chickens were arriving.

He has now obviously spoken with her and relisted it I hope works out well for them.

:( It would have been a good buy at that!

p.s. I had the same reply over the (yellow eglu) and that was:

no the buy it now was a typing error

That's really bad, I hope you get it sorted out soon and that ebay delete his account as that's horrible. Just out of interest how much was the BIN price-been away so I had no idea.

The sad thing is I reckon he'll get the price he wants as it's a rare colour and lots of MK1s seem to be going whey over what you could buy a similar MK2 for.

The world has gone mad . People are paying anything upto £330 for a second hand Eglu. Do they not realise a brand new one is just a few pounds more, even with delivery charges? Unless a second hand Eglu is very local, you'll have fuel costs to collect it, which need to be taken into account.

I'm at a loss to understand this madness :?. I'm on the look-out for a seond Eglu myself and was watching one within a few miles of me. It went for £310 - incredible.

Don't get me wrong, Eglu's are fab, even seond hand ones, but I just don't understand how something upto 4 years old can hold 95% of its 'new' value. Well done Omlet for such a great product I guess.

I know what you mean and it was the same for me when I was on the lookout for an eglu. Mind you, if you went to show and ordered an eglu you'd get free delivery and so your new eglu would only cost £333 and be delivered!

I think it mostly depends on where you are though, as some areas for eglus make the price rise or fall-any eglu near to me goes for quite a lot as they don't come up very often.
