The Dogmother
I have received this email from a journalist who has been watching my other stuff and blog online: I am writing a feature on how Urban Farming for the Daily Telegraph, and I am looking for someone who has turned their city garden into a modern-day version of the Good Life and is growing fruit and veg and even raising livestock. I found you on the net and was wondering if you know of someone, ...............who fits the bill. All I would then need is a quick 15 minute chat with them over the phone. The paper may also want to come and take a photo of them in their garden too. My deadline is Monday so if you do know of someone it would be great to speak to them in the next couple of days. ............................. She is looking for someone who lives in or very near a town and who has made the change to growing their own. Please PM me if you're interested
moochoo
I've just come off the phone with her. Didn't realise she'd been through all the course hosts! Who knows if it comes to anything.
The Dogmother
I have forwarded the names of a couple of friends to her. My veggies really aren't up to it I'm afraid!
Alis girls
She can come and photo my weeds not very intersting I know but they would fill a page
Snowy
I got the same email, didn't think mine would fit the bill as we are rather rural anyway, hardly in the city; and my garden is far from photogenic!
ubereglu
Have they found anyone yet?
Jules.
I've just come off the phone with her. Didn't realise she'd been through all the course hosts! Who knows if it comes to anything. She hasn't contacted me but then again I don't fit the bill, unless you count the growing of a couple of tomato & chilli plants
The Dogmother
I sent off some friends' names as suggestions but haven't heard back. She was trying to entice me into it, but my veggies aren't brilliant this year
Janty
Our fruit and veggies are good this year...just the owners that are not photogenic.
The Dogmother
You go for it then Jan. Has anyone been interviewed by her then?
Janty
Noooooooooo. Lovely idea in theory but very scary. On the subject of the garden, we are just making raspberry jam and we've also pickled some beetroot tonight. Can't wait for the Summer hols so that we can really get stuck in. moochoo
I was interviewed last week for this article on "home farming" and a photographer is coming to see me over the next couple of days. SCARY! Apparently, the article will appear in next Friday's Telegraph supplement.

moochoo
Well, Mr Telegraph photographer came this afternoon to do the shots. Well what a prat I felt. I'm really not good at being photographed and the girls were generally unkeen. I had to pretend to harvest my crops and tend to my flock like a good "urban farmer". I hope I've done you all proud. Olly
I'm sure you have! I'm just imagining if he'd come to mine ... I could probably have hidden the worst bits of the garden behind the enormous 'courgette' which is really a marrow!
The Dogmother
Well doen Sarah, did the tiara and fluffy slippers get an outing?
moochoo
Well doen Sarah, did the tiara and fluffy slippers get an outing? Of course, one can only look ones best for the broad sheets, you know! To be honest it was persistantly raining, so I made no huge effort as I just look like drowned rat.
Lesley
So, which day do we need to buy the paper?
moochoo
It's supposed to be in next Friday's supplement. I'll let you know if I hear anything different.
moochoo
Just a quick update to let you know the article I was interviewed for was in today's Telegraph in the Friday supplement. As per usual with these things it's hugely paraphrased and quite a few inaccuracies! My boss was interested to see I'd got a promotion from radiographer to radiologist. I'm hoping the wages are adjusted accordingly.
The Dogmother
...and they spelled 'despatching' wrong Nice article though, picture doesn't do you justice. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sponsored/thefriday/5949072/Im-the-urban-farmer-baby.html Edited to add link to article online
