Margalot
This type of eczema has just broken out over one of my feet I suffered from eczema as a child in my flexes, but this is horrid! I have been treating it now with Betnovate 0.1% and although the cream clears it up it them moves to a new patch. It is like lots of tiny fluid filled blisters between my toes and now is on the sole of my foot. It is getting really sore I wondered if anyone knew how long its likely to last? I continually have worn flip flops for the past 3 months or so, so my feet are always cool and aired! (could this be the cause?) I am just getting cheesed off with it Does anyone else have this? Alis girls
i cant say I've come across it as a nurse knowingly. Have you tried UK Eczema society? Or have you seen a dermatologist? Regarding flip flops I wear them a lot and they tend to be made from plastic/rubber ? encouraging sweat and bacteria. Sorry I'm not much help, steroid creams shouldnt be used long term. i think if your GP isnt winning ask for refereral. Good luck Ali
Old Speckled Hen
I have small patches of this on my hands and it comes and goes. Self diagnosed. It first started after I remarried two years ago . Allergic to hubby? NO it was the nickel in my wedding ring. I treat it topically with steroid and gentamycin cream ... it's the only combination that works. I's aggravated by soil contact so I garden with gloves always. It's more a nuisance than anything else and if I can be bothered to be thorough with my cream it often disappears for weeks at a time. Edited to say this can be really itchy. Must be awful on your feet
Ain't Nobody Here
NO it was the nickel in my wedding ring. I wasn't going to respond as I didn't think I'd suffered from it but the quote above made me rethink . I had horrendously itchy red raised spots on both hands for years (a few years ago). I'd break the skin with scratching . The cause (eventually picked up by a locum doctor)? My watch strap (nickel ). I've never had it since I've worn non-metal watches. Sorry, don't suppose that helps much . I can really sympathise though - it's horrible .
The Dogmother
I used to get this on my hands as a child (gone now), prolonged use of steorid cream (prescribed by the GP) and wet wrapping cleared it, but the steroids left the skin on my hands thin and wrinkly. In the winter, it splits and bleeds; in hindsight, I'd avoid steroid creams. Mine was due to nickel and detergents - now then only time I get a flare up is if I use any SLS products. Biker Chick
I can sympathise with you. I also get it on my right foot. It started about a year ago when I was made redundant, so I put it down to stress. But it now seems to have really flared up again and I have no stress!!! Its down the outside of my right foot and also on my big toe. Really itchy, red and sore. OH reckons I ought to see a dermatologyst as its really getting me down. The doctor wasnt really any help, gave me some cream but it doesnt help much. I also wear flip flops all the time to help get air to the area but they are not the rubber ones. So sorry I am no help whatsoever, but if anyone else has a solution to the problem I am willing to give it a go.
Margalot
Well my flip flops are leather soled , so dont think that has anything to do with it, I too am starting to put it down to stress, as I have alot of things going on at the moment, and although I dont necessarily feel stressed I am a worrier and maybe this is my bodys way of showing it? I'm not complaining but why dont I have it on both feet?? It looks so disgusting too, I have been recommended the udderly-smooth cream (udder cream for cows re-maufactured for us humans) so I may give that a go Thanks for all your tips, nice to know I'm not the only one!! Egluntyne
I use bog standard Udder Cream from the agricultural shop as a hand cream and for the odd bits of eczema that I get. £3.95 for a tub. I find it marvellous.
TheGirlsMum
I used to suffer with this a long time ago had a referral to a dermatologist, he called them Grecian Bubbles. Can't remember the treatment but it was a thick mustard coloured cream. This was definitely down to stress.
