Egluntyne
I wouldn't risk it myself. They would be outnumbered by 8 much bigger hens who might bully them mercilessly.
tom123
I know it is not reccomended however I have succesfully done it twice. At the moment I have 1 pekin hen in with 4 big hens until my younger pekins grow up. She is perfectly happy with them and is second in command. Pekins can hold their own, trust me! Just take it v e r y slowly and make sure you have separate accommodation if it doesn't work. Good Luck Tom

chelsea
I dont have bantams but my 2 newest additions are very tiny (they were runts) compared to the rest of my flock so the scenario is almost the same. We kept our small girls and big girls seperate for several weeks (I think it was about 12 weeks ) in seperate accomodation and runs so that everyone got used to each other and then I gradually introduced them with some supervised garden free ranging, and then eventually they were all put into my WIR. The 2 little ones are definitely bottom of the pecking order. *If you are going to attempt this I would only advise doing it if you have a large run (to enable the little ones room to escape) and also if you have the time and alternative accommodation in order for a slow introduction. Janty
I originally had a pekin in with larger girls and it was a disaster. I then bought some more bantams and an eglu for the littlies. As already said, you will have to keep the large girls and the smaller girls separate for quite a while before they will accept each other and live together. I had my bantams living separately in the eglu and after many weeks of the larger girls free ranging around them, I let them out together. Then after a few more weeks, the bantams moved in with the large girls in the cube but this was their choice.

origamibullets
I have a LF Orp in with two banties, and the LF is second in command, and has been the only one to be on the receiving end of a feather pecking problem (quickly sorted out using Ukadex). Basically - I've never had any problems whatsoever.

Janty
He already has two wives and a girlfriend at school, so what the heck! The new class lists came out with my name as head of year 7 and the head of year 8 was down as having our surname too. Then one of the teachers in my year group came into a meeting and called him 'Dear'.
