Article today not only is Karen leaving (and not to replace Arlene either) but Flamingo Legs is going too nice girl, but her legs make me feel queasy. Her tango with Mark Ramprakash has got to be the best Strictly dance of all time. 'Flamingo Legs' oh that did make me laugh, I've always been worried they'll snap Can't say I'll miss Arlene, her cliche ridden comments really annoy me! Karen I think is a dance judge already (might be mistaken) and obviously knows all about dancing. My OH will be upset at Camilla going, even though I always pointed out that her legs were way too thin I like Aleisha so shall wait and see what the show is like once it starts. Woodcat Posted August 4, 2009 Share Posted August 4, 2009 hey I'm not really losing any sleep over Arlene leaving what i'm really not understanding is why on earth they are replacing a professional with Alisha Dixon who i'm sure was very good but isn't a dancer. Yes Arlene could be annoying and her jokes were almost as cringy as some of Bruce Forsyths but she was a professional she dealt with dancing on a day to day basis. Unless i'm totally mistaken about the sum total of Alishas dancing experience is with strictly. That hardly puts her up at Len and Bruno's level of experience and expertes so the only reason, as far as i can see, she's on there is to appeal to an age group and teach them that being young and beautiful is more important than any other consideration. I would hassen to add that i do have no problem personal with Alisha it's merely the fact that she is the only one who isn't a professional ballroom/Latin dancer/chorographer, she's a pop star who dances in her videos. I would really like to see the BBc and tv and media in general focussing less on looks and more on content. You've only got to contrast a music video from now with one from the 80s to see what i mean. Sorry i'll hop off my little soap box now and retreat back to my little corner . She is beautiful to look at and is an amazing dancer, but I find her voice so grating. Surely the whole idea of having a judge is to have someone who knows what to look out for? Only time will tell if Alesha will be a good judge or not. Perhaps she's there to judge the "entertainment" value. Sunshine Posted August 5, 2009 Share Posted August 5, 2009 Just read that Heyley Holt's contract has not been renewed. She was only there for last year's Strictly. I did like her last year but i guess she will be replaced with someone else as the others have. They do seem to be changing a lot of people this year which at the moment i think is unecessary but i guess they are trying to compete with other shows. We will have to wait and see what its like.
