How Quickly Does Albendazole Work?

Penny has something wrong with her left foot .

 

She can't put her weight on it and sits with her toes curled underneath and if she tries to walk she falls flat on her face . I have her in a box in the house at the moment.

 

I'm wondering if she damaged it roosting in the bush in the run (the branches are very tightly packed).

 

The damaged leg feels cold compared to the normal one which is warm.

 

What should I do? I suppose I could phone the breeder but I'm worried he'll despatch her if she can't walk .

 

I suppose I'll just have to wait and see if she gets better then decide (but phone him to let him know?) .

Slightly better news (I probably panicked a bit too soon ). Her leg is warm now and she can grip my finger. She'll lay her foot flat if encouraged and has eaten a few pellets .

 

I've put some Avipro in some water and may pop her back in with Poppy later but in the dog carrier.

 

Feeling like a rubbish new mum .

I'm sure she will be fine, if she was walking ok yesterday then its probably a sprain she did overnight or this morning, maybe the sight of new things made her a little too bold and she was jumping on things or she flew at the run to see the older birds

I didn't want to admit this earlier (as I feel so guilty ) but I think it might have been my fault. She was roosting in the bush and I tried to get her off to put her to bed - not violently or anything and she wasn't for moving so I left her - but I'm worried I might have hurt her wee foot . She may have done it herself, jumping down this morning but I'll never know .

 

She's eating and drinking well but just sits down when you let go of her wings. I will try putting her in the carrier in the run in a while.

 

(The plus side is, I'm getting lots of cuddles - she's so gentle and sweet .)

Don't feel guilty it doesnt sound as if you did anything wrong. Lots of rest and I am sure she will be fine although she might go to bed in the proper place tonight after her adventure

Once Chickpea injured her foot. She was standing next to the run door and a pigeon flew onto the lawn, it gave her a fright and she ran into the run, there's a part of the mesh that sticks up to meet the door and in her haste she ran straight into it and tripped over

 

She held her foot up like a flamingo for about an hour, I was worried.

But eventually, she began to test it herself, until she could walk normally again.

 

Give her some time and I'm sure she'll be okay

 

I think mine put on the sympathy act to get some more meal worms

I put her back in the run with Poppy late this afternoon. She took a few steps occasionally with a little difficulty but seemed happiest sitting down.

 

This evening I had to crawl in and get her to put her to bed . At least she didn't roost in the bush again .

I've been at work today so haven't been able to observe her till now but she looks a lot better. She's walking on it but is still sinking down into a sitting position a lot. She sometimes stands on one leg with the bad leg held up but she's able to weight bear on it .

 

Fingers crossed she continues to improve .
