Fur 'n' Feathers

Such Bad Henny Parents!!!!!!???

Recommended Posts

We went out half an hour ago to see if the hens were in bed only to find them out still. Kilo seemed to be at the top of the cube ladder, but jumped down :roll:

We hid behind a bush to watch & Krasi appeared to disappear from view (it was getting quite dark. Then we saw Kilo jump up on the roosting bar in the run and settle down there. We gave up watching in the end and went to look as there was no movement and there was Kilo with Krasi was beside her on the roosting bar in the run quite settled together :roll::roll::?:anxious:

We told them it really was time to go to bed, but they just looked at us and made the occasional muffled noise :doh::doh::think::anxious::pray:

I went round to try to encourage them over to the ladder and Fur went to the end of the run… then Fur said “Is the door to the cube open :?::idea: …….we then realised that we’d closed it earlier to do a bit of a clean & inspect and we’d forgotten to reopen the door :shock::shock::oops::oops::wall: The girls went straight in when we re-opened it :)

How embarrassing :oops::oops::wink: .

I have...several times :oops:

First time I had 3 sleepy balls of feathers snuggled up against the front of the eglu & had to move them in order to open the door & put them in.........actually that was DD who had been told to shut the door before she collected the eggs & forgot to open it again :roll:

The other times were when Buffie was early in her broodiness & I shut the door to the (cube lilac) to stop her going into the nestbox rather than back to her eggs......all 7 of the big girls who normally sleep in (cube lilac) squeezed into the (cube orange) with the batties who were very unimpressed at the enforced sleepovers :whistle::whistle:

They get over it :wink:

and me .. hmmm only realising at around 11.30pm, then commenced the biggest chaos & farcical endeavors to wake roosting chickens up & persuade them to climb (in the dark) up into their cube towards . .wait for it .. a mobile phone light!!! SEVEN BLOOMIN ROOSTING CHICKENS - NIGHTMARE :shock: I must admit to using twigs too to assist them on their way :shameonu:

So I think your chickens are quite lucky tohave such respnsible keepers who checked on them before midnight!!!!! :clap:
