Charlottechicken
I bought a pair of these last year in anticipation of bad icy weather, which of course never materialised www.yaktrax.co.uk Handy to have if you live somewhere a little bit isolated, where the gritting lorries fail to venture. These type do not have spikes on so you wont damage floors if you walk into the house wearing them. As I have not been able to wear them yet I can't say if you can drive in them either, but I imagine you could! Might make a good Christmas pressie
Karen & co.
They would be good for my sister, who lives in the middle of no-where karen x
xraylady
Oh wow! I LIKE that!! I checked out the US site as we live in Utah & they look great! Ice is a huge problem here. I have MS, so my balance really sucks anyway - these would be great for walking across the parking lot to get to work. (Of course this might deprive our security officers of the comic display I afford them every morning ..."here she comes, waddling like a penguin, arms flapping wildly ") It looks like they would be easy to put on/slip off - Claire how easy did you find it? I don't have a lot of grip strength in my fingers (enough to open the nest box with 2 hands though! Of course, maybe I am shooting myself in the foot here. Working in radiology the hazards of winter (slips, falls, car wrecks, snowblower accidents) equal job security for me just kidding, honest! My husband is one of those mad marathon runners & I see they make one designed for running on snow/ice. Which kind did you try, Claire? Can you stick them in your pocket when you go inside? Sorry for all the questions, but I really like the look of these.
Lesley
Thanks for that Claire. I looked at these last year but didn't buy any. Then I couldn't remember what they were called. As I slipped on ice 4 years ago this week - and have spent a long time getting back to anything like normal mobility - I will be giving them a go. I've just ordered some. Sorry for all the questions, but I really like the look of these. Sarah, I bought the basic model, called the walker I think. I have never used them since I bought them as we had really mild weather last winter . They are made of a strong rubber type product which is quite firm, and I found them stiff to put on my shoes, but not impossible, there's always the chance of snapping a fingernail as well though! If your grip is not good, you may be better getting someone to fit them on your outdoor shoes and then changing your shoes for indoors/in work They come folded up in a little plastic box so would easily fit in your pocket . They are a US product anyway, so with your winter weather and temperatures you will be better placed to get wear out of them!
