TAJ
We were looking at getting a bigger fridge/freezer in the garage to replace a smaller 20 year old one, due to the amount of produce coming off the allotment. We considered it before going away and looked at them again last Friday and I ordered one which will be delivered this Thursday. Then within 2 hours of ordering the new one the old one stopped working! We managed to get some stuff in the other freezer, but I have had to make blackcurrant jam and we have been eating other bits that we couldn't find freezer room for. I am also having to watch things growing on the allotment knowing I cannot pick them until the weekend as I have no freezer to put them in. Hopefully all will be resolved by the weekend. TAJ
You cannot believe what a nightmare this has turned into. So the new fridge/freezer was due Thursday, Wednesday afternoon I get a call to say sorry the supplier has let them down so it will not be delivered as planned - hopefully 14th September. After discussion of my plight of needing it ASAP (hence why I ordered from them in the first place), allotment veg going to waste as I have no freezer space for it, etc) the customer service people scourced an alternative model instock and arranged for express delivery for Friday. So after me arranging to work from home Thursday OH then did so for Friday BUT we didn't get the call Thursday night to state the 4 hr delivery slot, when customer services opened at 11 am this morning (it hadn't arrived) OH rang. Oh we don't understand it - it says on the system it is due for delivery today, but no driver/lorry is allocated to it - he also said it was odd because it was also shown as to be delivered Saturday in another colour. To cut a long story short after me spending hours on the phone it seems neither the delivery for today or tomorrow had been allocated to a driver and another member of staff cancled the delivery for tomorrow and moved it to next Tuesday! He even had the cheek to tell his manager that was what my husband had requested! Anyway after the manger listened to the tape of the phone conversation he agreed our version of events, but was powerless to reinstate the order as by that time the lorry was packed and full. The up-shot of all this is I am still fridge/freezer less and have to arrange to be at home for a third day next Tuesday in the hope the 4th time of promissed delivery actually happens. They are going to give me 10% off for my troubles, but I would rather have a working fridge/freezer already delivered. Here's looking forward to next Tuesday! Blackrocksrock
What supplier would that have been? Need to steer clear of them I think.

rosie
A long time ago a similar thing happened to me. My car was getting a bit old and worn but still seemed to be running well. I went out one evening with a pal to look at newer cars in garages, but wasn't sure whether to bite the financial bullet and buy a newer one. On the way home, whilst in the middle of nowhere and going round a corner, the whole wheel section just fell off. It was pretty dramatic, sparks flying as we coasted on the metal frame and we were lucky not to be going too fast, so were fine. The car wasn't-hubby said it was the suspension struts or something which had given up. I felt that my old car was complaining about being replaced Needless to say, I did have to get another car, although the old one got repaired as well. TAJ
It has arrived - not of course without one final blip of no 4 hr slot generated, so no call to inform me when in the day it would arrive - I wasn't hopeful given this was the position we were in Friday, anyway this time a driver had been allocated and it has arrived - lets hope it now works! Valkyrie
Blooming heck that sounded an ordeal - for something sooo simple. Hope you get your harvest in it soon. We just got ours from John Lewis - no problems. Actually I can't ever remember having any problems with them regarding deliveries - other companies yes, and how stressfull the others were too, hence back to JL.
